PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The Captain of the Port for Coast Guard Sector Virginia plans to reopen the Port of Virginia at 10 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, allowing vessel movement to resume without restrictions.

USCGC Myrtle Hazard crew concludes 46-day patrol in the Pacific, strengthening ties and security with regional partners

SANTA RITA, Guam — Marking the culmination of a 46-day patrol, the USCGC Myrtle Hazard (WPC 1139) crew completed a series of operations in partnership with Papua New Guinea and other regional allies, bolstering maritime security and resource management in exclusive economic zones (EEZs) and on the high seas, returning to Guam on Sept. 24, 2023. The recent patrol operation specifically supported the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency’s annual Operation Island Chief at the outset of the patrol and the broader U.S. Coast Guard’s Operation Blue Pacific, further solidifying the U.S. commitment to resource security and regional stability.

Coast Guard sets port condition Zulu for Virginia ports in anticipation of Tropical Storm Ophelia

Devil took off like a bullet chasing his prey to protect his handler. The prey ran down the field, only to have Devil launch at him, ensnaring his arm in a vice-like grip full of sharp canine teeth. People from all over the world watched in utter silence, as the prey—better known as the decoy—attempted to dislodge Devil, but to no avail.

A Coast Guard air and surface units combined efforts with local park rangers and the M/F Kydon ferry crew to rescue six migrants following a vessel capsizing off Sardinera Beach in Mona Island, Puerto Rico, Monday. Rescued are four men and two women, who reportedly were part of an irregular migrant voyage carrying six people when their vessel capsized near Mona Island’s reef line late Sunday night.
