BOSTON — The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, “America’s Tall Ship,” is scheduled to arrive in Boston, Thursday. The Eagle will moor in Charlestown, behind the USS Constitution Sept. 28-30, and will be open for free public tours. Tours will be available for the following date and times: • Thursday (12 p.m. to 7 p.m.) • Friday (10a.m. to 7 p.m.) • Saturday (10a.m. to 7 p.m.) Note: Tours for military and first responders begin one hour prior to posted tour times on Friday and Saturday. At 295 feet in length, Eagle is the largest tall ship flying the stars and stripes and the only active square-rigger in United States government service. Eagle has served as a classroom at sea to future Coast Guard officers since 1946, offering an at-sea leadership and professional development experience as part of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy curriculum. Eagle is a three-masted barque with more than 22,300 square feet of sail and 6 miles of rigging. The cutter was constructed in 1936 by the Blohm and Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany. Originally commissioned as the Horst Wessel by the German navy, Eagle was a war reparation for the United States following World War II. Additional information about the Eagle can be found here. NEW YORK — U.S. Coast Guard Sector New York is actively monitoring the forecasted arrival of inclement weather beginning later today, Friday, through the weekend. Current forecasts predict a potential for high winds with gusts up to 40 kts, 2-3 inches of total rainfall, coastal flooding of 1 to 1 ½ ft, dangerous rip currents and breaking surf, and seas building to 9 – 13 ft offshore. USCGC Myrtle Hazard crew concludes 46-day patrol in the Pacific, strengthening ties and security with regional partners

SANTA RITA, Guam — Marking the culmination of a 46-day patrol, the USCGC Myrtle Hazard (WPC 1139) crew completed a series of operations in partnership with Papua New Guinea and other regional allies, bolstering maritime security and resource management in exclusive economic zones (EEZs) and on the high seas, returning to Guam on Sept. 24, 2023. The recent patrol operation specifically supported the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency’s annual Operation Island Chief at the outset of the patrol and the broader U.S. Coast Guard’s Operation Blue Pacific, further solidifying the U.S. commitment to resource security and regional stability.
