Charleston, WV – The U.S. Marshals Southern District of West Virginia CUFFED Task Force is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Gabriel Allen Hargus, 46, of Mineral Wells, WV. Hargus is wanted by the U.S. Marshals, West Virginia State Police, and West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (Parole) on warrants for 3 Counts of 2nd Offense Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and a Parole Violation.

Hargus was convicted in February 2011, in Kanawha County, WV Circuit Court for Possession of Materials Depicting a Minor Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct (Child Pornography) and 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse of a 13-year-old female victim.

The Circuit Court of Kanawha County sentenced Hargus to two years of incarceration, a period of thirty years extended supervision, and lifetime registration as a sex offender.

Hargus is known to drive a 2016 Silver Ford Focus, bearing West Virginia Registration, N3R908. Hargus is aware he is wanted and is currently evading apprehension from law enforcement and is believed to have fled the state.

U.S. Marshals in PA, NY Working with PSP to Find Dangerous Escapee from Warren County Jail

Pittsburgh, PA – The U.S. Marshals in the Western District of Pennsylvania, along with the Western District of New York, have joined the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) manhunt for a man who escaped from the Warren County jail late Thursday, July 6, 2023.

Michael Burham, 34, was being held on arson and burglary charges and was a suspect in a homicide investigation. He was also associated with a prior carjacking and kidnapping of a local couple.

Burham is the prime suspect in the May 11 shooting death of 34-year-old Kala Hodgkin inside her William Street home in Jamestown. He is also alleged to have set fire to another woman’s car in Jamestown.

Burham stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and a tiger tattoo on his right arm. He should be considered dangerous.

The USMS is offering a reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to Burham’s arrest. Warren County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,000 reward.

U.S. Marshals Increase Reward up to $10,000 for Information Leading to Arrest of Warren County Escapee

Pittsburgh, PA – The U.S. Marshals Service is increasing its reward to up to $10,000 for information leading to the capture of the man who escaped the Warren County jail July 6, bringing the total reward available to $22,000. Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers is also offering $10,000, and Warren County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,000.

The Marshals in the Western District of Pennsylvania, along with the Western District of New York and others are working with the Pennsylvania State Police to locate and arrest Michael Burham, who was being held on arson and burglary charges and was a suspect in a homicide investigation. ‘Wanted Wednesday’ Fugitive Arrested by U.S. Marshals Task Force

Shawano County, WI – On July 11, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force-Madison (GLRFTF-Madison) captured a fugitive on a property near Red Wahl Lane and Country Road D, minutes west of Eland.

Shawn Clark, 44, was wanted on felony warrants out of Shawano County for a sex offender registry violation (repeater enhancer) and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for community supervision (probation) violations. Clark is currently on felony probation following a conviction of first- degree sexual assault of a child (under the age of 13).

On May 31, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office uploaded a wanted poster on their agency Facebook page identifying Clark as a fugitive, making him the subject of their “Wanted Wednesday” series.

On July 6, the GLRFTF-Madison gathered information that Clark was residing on a property just outside of Eland and was actively avoiding prosecution by hiding in a man-made hut in the woods.

On July 11, the GLRFTF-Madison conducted an arrest operation on the rural property. In doing so, Task Force Officers observed Clark running out the back of a makeshift housing structure.

Clark refused to follow Task Force Officer commands to stop running, leading them on a foot chase through the dense landscape. After tripping over roots, Clark fell to the ground and was brought into custody.

Clark may face new charges in Marathon County for felon in possession (firearm) after a loaded .22-caliber rifle was found in Clark’s camp incident to arrest.

The U.S. Marshals Service’s Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force in this arrest was composed of officers from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.

U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force Arrests Shooter of 5-Year-Old Girl

New York – On July 12, Deputies and Task Force Officers from the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJ RFTF) apprehended the suspect wanted for shooting and seriously wounding a 5-year-old girl who was shot in the back while in the back seat of a vehicle in the Bronx on June 30 leading into the Fourth of July weekend.

Curtis White, 25, fled the scene and was on-the-run avoiding local law enforcement efforts to locate him.

Deputy U.S. Marshals in the Southern District of New York, along with Task Force Officers of the New York Police Department (NYPD) from the NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, adopted the case immediately with a federal warrant. They quickly developed information that led them to the Hazlelton, Pennsylvania, area where, with assistance from Deputy U.S. Marshals from the Middle District of Pennsylvania, arrested White in a private residence without incident.  

“This was another successful takedown of a dangerous fugitive, a convicted felon who shot an innocent 5-year old girl,” said Ralph Sozio, U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of New York. “I want to thank the Southern New York Warrant Squad, the NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the NYPD for their relentless pursuit in apprehending him without incident.”

The New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force began operations in April 2002 and was the first regional fugitive task force to become fully operational following the Presidential Threat Protection Act of 2000. The New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force was the flagship that has allowed seven other regional fugitive task forces to be created across the country. With partnership agreements with over 90 federal, state, or local agencies and 13 fully operational offices, the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force has successfully apprehended over 95,000 fugitives since inception.

U.S. Marshals Arrest Washington State Murder Suspect in Toledo

Toledo, OH – The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) and the Toledo Police Department (TPD) arrested Shawntea Grimes Hamilton (29) after she was charged with the murder of Christopher Wilson in Everett, Washington back in June of this year. Hamilton was arrested in the 5500 block of Cresthaven Lane in Toledo, OH. 

The U.S. Marshals in Seattle, Washington were able to develop information that potentially placed Hamilton in the Toledo, Ohio area. The NOVFTF continued the investigation in Toledo which led them to an apartment complex on Cresthaven Lane where Hamilton was subsequently arrested. Hamilton was booked into the Lucas County Jail where she will wait extradition back to Snohomish County Washington. 

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “This case shows the reach and abilities of the U.S. Marshals to track down our most violent suspects. All the officers involved in this investigation, both federal, state, and local should be commended for this arrest. We hope it starts to provide some relief to the victim’s family.”

U.S. Marshals Task Force Apprehend Rape Suspect Wanted for Multiple Counts on a Runaway

Hardeman County, TN – On July 10, 2023, the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson captured a Hardeman County man wanted for multiple counts of sex crimes against a child runaway.

Homer Rivers, 43, of Grand Junction, TN, was wanted for Kidnapping, Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, Trafficking for Commercial Sex, Aggravated Statutory Rape (7 counts), Harboring/ Hiding a Runaway, Solicitation of a Minor and Contributing to Delinquency, from the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 21, Investigators with the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office located a missing juvenile at the home of Homer Rivers in Grand Junction. An investigation by law enforcement and forensic interviewers determined that Rivers had allegedly committed multiple crimes. The case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Task Force.

On July 10, at 6:00 p.m., U.S. Marshals arrested Rivers at a residence on Naylor Road in Toone, TN. He was apprehended without incident and transported to the Hardeman County Jail.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force in Western Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators. 

U.S. Marshals Apprehend Man in Harpers Ferry, WV Wanted in Connection With Baltimore County Murder

Martinsburg, WV – A man wanted in connection with an April 2023 Baltimore County murder has been arrested by the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force (MSFTF), in Harpers Ferry, WV.

In April of 2023, Bryson L. Butterfly, 18 of Harpers Ferry, WV was one of three suspects charged with first-degree murder and robbery, which occurred in Baltimore County Maryland. Butterfly’s two co-conspirators had previously been arrested and are currently in the Baltimore County Detention Center.

The Baltimore County Prosecutors Office requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Task Force (CARTF) in locating and apprehending Butterfly. The investigation revealed Butterfly had fled the area and may be in Jefferson County, WV.

The CARTF in conjunction with the MSFTF determined Butterfly was residing in the 1600 Block of Engle Switch Rd, Harpers Ferry, WV. Further information received during the investigation led detectives to the Hollywood Casinos Racetrack in Charles Town, WV where the subject was known to be a jockey.

On July 13th, members of the MSFTF arrested Butterfly at his residence on the 1600 block of Engle Switch Road.

“This case illustrates how well U.S. Marshals offices across the nation work together with other state and local agencies to locate and remove violent subjects from the community.” said Acting U.S. Marshal Terry Moore.

Butterfly is currently being held at the Eastern Regional Jail to await his extradition to Maryland. Additional information on this case may be obtained from the Baltimore County Prosecutor’s Office in Maryland.
