WASHINGTON, D.C. — Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., met with Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Robert Glavaš today at the Pentagon.

The leaders discussed the security environment in Europe and particularly in the Western Balkans. Gen. Brown and Lt. Gen. Glavaš also discussed ongoing support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s illegal invasion. 

Slovenia is a strong NATO ally and close U.S. partner in ensuring regional stability.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Chairman of the European Union Military Committee Gen. Robert Brieger today by video teleconference.

The two leaders discussed the security environment in Europe, with Gen. Brown expressing appreciation for the European Union’s steadfast support for Ukraine as it continues to defend itself against Russian aggression.

Gen. Brieger and Gen. Brown also discussed the threats to commercial and naval vessels in the Middle East as the Houthis continue to endanger the lives of international seafarers. The leaders pledged greater coordination among partner forces in the region as the United States and the European Union aim to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the Red Sea.

Gen. Brown and Lt. Gen. Řehka reaffirmed continued strong support for Ukraine and discussed strengthening bilateral defense ties as well as advancing Transatlantic security. The Chairman lauded ongoing military modernization efforts by the Czech Republic, noting its commitment to defense spending and investments in NATO-interoperable military equipment.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with United Kingdom’s Vice Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Gwyn Jenkins yesterday by phone.

The leaders discussed the security environment in the Middle East, including continued attacks by the Houthis in Yemen against commercial shipping and naval vessels transiting the Gulf of Aden, Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and Red Sea.

The Houthis’ illegal and unjustifiable attacks on international maritime traffic since mid-November constitute an international challenge. The United States remains fully committed to working with global allies and partners in protecting freedom of navigation and the free flow of trade in one of the world’s most critical waterways.

The United Kingdom and United States share a special relationship and strong alliance rooted in a long history of mutual support and cooperation.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Chief of the Israeli General Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi today by video teleconference.

The leaders continued discussions on the current security environment in the Middle East, including ongoing operations in Gaza in response to Hamas’ terrorist attacks. Gen. Brown also reiterated U.S. emphasis on protection of civilians, unfettered access for delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, and the importance of planning for post-conflict conditions.

This was the ninth time the two military leaders either have spoken by phone, video teleconference or met in person since Gen. Brown became Chairman.

The United States and Israel enjoy strong military-to-military ties as key partners committed to peace and security throughout the Middle East.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Indonesia’s Commander of National Armed Forces Gen. Agus Subiyanto today by phone. This was their first call since Gen. Brown became Chairman.

The two military leaders discussed a range of issues, including ways to enhance the military-to-military relationship through exercises and expanded security cooperation.

Gen. Brown and Gen. Subiyanto agreed to continue to strengthen multilateral cooperation and improve interoperability between the two countries.

The U.S.-Indonesia relationship provides an important stabilizing presence in the Indo-Pacific region. The U.S. remains committed to supporting Indonesia’s role in advancing regional security and prosperity in Southeast Asia, ASEAN, and the Asia Pacific.
