U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team Los Angeles Long Beach (MSST LA/LB) members participated in a subject matter expert exchange (SMEE) with nine Royal Malaysian Customs (RMC) officers and 11 Royal Malaysian police officers (RMP), part of the Royal Malaysian Customs Academy in Langkawi (AKMAL), from Oct. 31 to Nov. 15, 2024. Service members from both nations discussed and demonstrated law enforcement and seamanship best practices and tactics to bolster both regional security and maritime efforts.

SAN DIEGO — The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Munro (WMSL 755) offloaded more than 29,000 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated value of $335.8 million, Tuesday in San Diego.  The offload is a result of eleven separate suspected drug smuggling vessel interdictions or events off the coasts of Mexico and Central and South America in September and October.

ALAMEDA, Calif. — The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Stratton (WMSL 752) returned to its Alameda homeport on Nov. 4, after completing a 110-day patrol in the Arctic Ocean, Chukchi Sea and Bering Sea. Stratton’s crew departed Alameda on July 18 and supported U.S. strategic interests in the high latitudes and ensured the safety and compliance of domestic fishery operators. This was Stratton’s second 110-day Alaska patrol in 2024.
