Detectives continue to investigate disappearance of Justin Henry

Source: United Kingdom London Metropolitan Police

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Justin Henry are releasing images of the distinctive jewellery he was wearing prior to his disappearance.

Justin’s family have confirmed he was wearing the items when last seen, and CCTV, taken later that day, also shows him wearing the items.

Police are releasing images of the Rolex watch, three Cartier bracelets and a diamond ring in the hope that someone knows what has become of them and this will lead police to find Justin.

Justin was last seen in person on the evening of Sunday, 15 October at his partner’s address in Brixton. At around 21:50hrs on Sunday, 15 October, Justin was seen on CCTV buying food at a McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant on London Road in Croydon.

Justin’s mother Helen Henry, said: “Our family are broken and we cannot begin to heal until we get closure. I, my family, and the community are all devastated and we desperately want to find Justin. I am asking anyone who can help us to end our agony.

“Justin’s son is only 11-years-old, he wants to know what has happened to his daddy and I am afraid that unless someone comes forward, he will never find out. Please look at the jewellery Justin was wearing and if you know what has happened to it, call police. We are asking anyone with information to help us, please do not turn away.”

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Webb, of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “We are releasing images of a very distinctive Rolex watch, a ring and three Cartier bracelets that Justin was wearing prior to his disappearance. His family have confirmed he had these on when last seen, and CCTV confirms this. Finding this jewellery could be a vital step in finding out what has happened to Justin.

“You may have seen someone wearing the jewellery or heard them talking about it. However you have found about these items, call us, and tell us what you saw or heard. It is possible that you are in possession of the jewellery and had no idea of its significance. I can assure you our focus is finding Justin and you can speak to us, or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers. Justin’s family are reaching out to the public for help, please search your conscious, and do the right thing.”

Justin Henry, 34, was reported missing to police on Monday, 16 October.

He has links to the SE23/Forest Hill area and was last seen in person on the evening of Sunday, 15 October at the address of his partner in Brixton.

His family has not seen or heard from him since, and this is totally out of character.

Police are continuing to establish Justin’s movements, in particular late on Sunday, 15 October, and in the early hours of Monday, 16 October.

At around 21:50hrs on Sunday, 15 October, Justin was seen on CCTV buying food at a McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant on London Road in Croydon.

Enquiries have led officers to believe Justin drove from that restaurant to nearby Waddon New Road where his vehicle, a silver Mercedes E Class, remained for approximately two-and-a-half hours.

The Mercedes was later located on Monday, 16 October in Kingswood Drive, SE19.

It is unclear who was driving the vehicle when it arrived at Kingswood Drive shortly before 01:00hrs on Monday, 16 October, due to indistinct CCTV image of the driver, but Justin’s family state that it was not him.

Officers have conducted forensic examinations of an address in Croydon and Justin’s car, as well as extensive CCTV and phone inquiries.

A 29-year-old man [B] and a 28-year-old man [C] have been charged in connection with the investigation.

On Wednesday, 18 October, a 27-year-old woman [A] was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping; she has since been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in mid-January 2024.

Detectives still desperately need more information about Justin’s disappearance and the days leading up to him going missing. Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or contact via Twitter/X @MetCC. Please quote Operation Ashgulf or CAD1523/02NOV.

Two men convicted of murder of man in Redbridge in 2020

Source: United Kingdom London Metropolitan Police

Two men who fled abroad after fatally stabbing a man in Redbridge in 2020 have been convicted of murder.

The court heard the two men were part of a gang of five who were involved in the killing of 24-year-old Ricardo Fuller.

All five of the gang left the country before officers could arrest them and investigators worked closely with the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Interpol to locate them.

On November 1, the following were convicted of murder after a trial at the Old Bailey.

  • Emanuel Tamwesegire, 31 (29.12.1991) of Wyemead Crescent, Chingford, E4.
  • Edmund Tucker, 31 (25.09.1991) of Vincent Road, Dagenham

Jarmaine Ahenkorah, 30 (29.03.1993) of Cumberland Road, Plaistow, E13 was convicted of manslaughter

Tamwesegire and Tucker will be sentenced on 9 November and Ahenkorah on 23 November.

Two other men, Ahmed Sesay and Abubaker Tarawally, who were 27 and 22 at the time of the killing, fled abroad and are currently wanted in connection with Mr Fuller’s murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen , from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “ Three people have been brought to justice for the killing of Ricardo Fuller. It was a horrendous crime with Ricardo being ruthlessly pursued prior to being fatally stabbed. Officers worked incredibly hard to identify those responsible and gather the evidence against them. All that work has culminated in these convictions and I sincerely hope seeing justice done will be of some solace to Mr Fuller’s friends and family.

“However, we are very aware that two suspects for Mr Fuller’s murder remain at large. Both have fled abroad but my team are working tirelessly, with support from Interpol and the NCA, to find these men and bring them back to the UK.

“In such cases, we really need information from the public. We know that these men will still be in contact with family and friends in the UK. There are people in the very community where Ricardo was killed who will know where those responsible are hiding.

“They cannot hide forever and I would urge anyone with information, however insignificant they think it may be, to get in touch with us. Anyone with any information about the location of the two outstanding suspects is asked to call the incident room on 020 8345 1570, please quote Operation Sandside.”

Alternatively, information can be given to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

Ricardo’s family said: “We will always remember Ricardo, he will be in our hearts forever. After three long years we are grateful that justice has finally begun to be served. We still await the arrest of two more perpetrators in this case and then we may be able to take steps to move forward with our lives.”

The court heard how there was a longstanding animosity between Mr Fuller and at least one of the group.

On Saturday, 7 March, Sesay, the three defendants and Abubaker Tarawally, made their way in two cars to Discoteca No Problem, 333 Ilford High Road, Ilford.

Mr Fuller was inside the club attending a friend’s birthday party.

The five men went into the club and confronted Mr Fuller on the dance floor. The staff asked the five men to leave and they walked out, they had only been in the club five minutes.

The group stayed near the club and a short while later Mr Fuller left the club and was confronted by the group in the middle of the road.

A chase then began with Mr Fuller being pursued up and down the road as he tried to evade his attackers.

CCTV recorded his pursuers striking out and lunging at Mr Fuller, during the course of the pursuit Mr Fuller was stabbed three times. Two stab wounds were to his back, but the third wound was to his neck and it severed the artery in his neck.

The gang fled the scene and Mr Fuller was able to make his way back to the club where he collapsed on the dance floor. Despite the efforts of paramedics and hospital staff, he died later that morning.

An immediate investigation began led by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

Officers spoke to witnesses, and reviewed hours of CCTV in order to identify those who had carried out the killing.

The cars the gang had used were forensically examined and Mr Fuller’s blood found on a door recess and Tarwally’s DNA found on items in the same car.

However, when they identified the five suspects, inquiries found they had already left the country.

In April 2020, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised murder charges against the five men in their absence.

Three of the suspects eventually returned to the United Kingdom. Jarmaine Ahenkorah flew back from Ghana on 19 April 2021, Emanuel Tamwesegire flew back into the country on 12 July 2021 from Amsterdam and Edmund Tucker returned to the United Kingdom on 29 July 2021.

Ahmed Sesay, 31 (10.06.92) and Abubaker Tarawally, 25 (14.01.98) are still currently being sought by police.

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of these two men is asked to call the incident room on 020 8345 1570.

Man who attacked man with knife and threw him into Neasden lake jailed

A man has been jailed after a jury found him guilty of a violent assault in Brent.

Abdi Hassan, 27 (15.04.96) of Janson Close, Brent was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment, with an extended four year licence, at St Albans Crown Court on Monday, 30 October. He had been found guilty of GBH, robbery and possession of an offensive weapon following the conclusion of a trial at Harrow Crown Court in June 2023.

The court heard how Hassan was part of a group of three men who lured their victim – a man in his 20s – into Neasden Recreation Ground in Neasden in December 2021 on the pretence of selling him crypto currency.

Once inside the park, Hassan and his two accomplices attacked the victim, knocking him to the ground. Hassan produced a Rambo knife and inflicted multiple injuries on the man, slashing him on the back, arms and legs, before throwing him into a nearby lake.

Fast time intelligence work identified Hassan as being involved and he was arrested.

PC Gulennur Gaygusuz of the North West Command Unit said: “This was a particularly violent attack on a defenseless man who was left injured and traumatized after being thrown in freezing water in the middle of winter.

“Hassan inflicted knife injuries on the victim, repeatedly slashing him during a sustained attack, causing long-term psychological trauma. Work continues to bring the two other people responsible to justice.”

PC Howlin remains on restricted duties.

Pensioner who murdered his wife jailed for 15 years

Source: United Kingdom London Metropolitan Police

A 79-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 15 years after murdering his wife with a rounders bat.

Tarsame Singh, 79 (05.04.44) was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Wednesday 1 November after he pleaded guilty to killing his wife, Maya Devi, at their home address in Hornchurch.

On Tuesday, 2 May, Singh walked into Romford police station and told the front desk that he had just killed his wife.

Officers immediately attended the house on Cowdray Way in Elm Park and found 77-year-old Maya unresponsive on the living room floor. The wooden rounders bat was found nearby.

Significant amounts of blood staining was found on the carpet and nearby walls.

Maya was pronounced dead at the scene; a post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be blunt force head injuries.

Singh was charged the next day and remanded into custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers, who led the investigation, said: “This is a tragic case and one which has left the couple’s three children utterly distraught.

“No-one should ever lose their mother in this way and we will continue to think of, and support them, at this difficult time.

“Singh has never admitted what caused him to act in such a violent way that evening but we are pleased he has pleaded guilty and will now face a significant custodial sentence.”
