Coast Guard urges caution to offshore mariners and beachgoers as Hurricane Erin expected to remain offshore

NEW YORK — While Hurricane Erin is currently forecasted to track well off the coasts of New York and New Jersey, the Coast Guard is urging mariners operating offshore and beachgoers to exercise caution as the storm passes. Although inshore waters of the Port of New York and New Jersey are not expected to be impacted, the storm is expected to generate hazardous conditions offshore and along the coast from Tuesday through Friday. BANYUWANGI, Indonesia — Forward-deployed U.S. Navy submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40) departed East Java, Indonesia following a scheduled port visit, Aug. 15, 2025. Frank Cable is underway supporting 7th Fleet, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, operating with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

USS George Washington Strike Group arrives in Guam, Saipan

APRA HARBOR, Guam — Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), flagship of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 5, embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, and cruiser USS Robert Smalls (CG 62) arrived in Guam for a scheduled port visit, August 17, while destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86) visits Saipan.
