Ferryland — Residential fire at apartment complex in Calvert remains under investigation

Ferryland RCMP is investigating a fire that occurred at an apartment complex in Calvert on September 23, 2023.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, RCMP received the report of a residential structure fire. Police, fire and EMS attended the scene. Residents of the complex were evacuated while fire fighters battled the blaze. One person received minor injuries and the structure was extensively damaged.

A fire scene investigator attended the scene and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Brookfield — Missing Person: Help PEI RCMP find Scott Andrews

Queens District RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 38-year-old Scott Andrews, who was reported missing from his residence and was last seen on Monday September 25th.

Andrews is described as 6-foot 2 inches tall, 280-lbs, red hair and red beard. He was last seen wearing a striped poncho, blackish sweat-pants, and New Balance sneakers. His direction of travel is unknown at this time.

RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP drone have been engaged in the search in the Brookfield area. This search is ongoing.

Portage la Prairie — Portage la Prairie RCMP looking for missing teen

On September 21, 2023, at 10:30 am, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a missing 13-year-old female from a residence located on 9th Street NW in the City of Portage la Prairie.

Tyeanna Daniels was last seen in her home on the evening of September 20.

She’s described as being 5’3″ in height, 85 lbs with long dark brown hair and brown eyes. It is possible she may currently be in the City of Brandon.

Thompson — Thompson RCMP arrest two youths in stabbing caught on camera

On September 22, 2023, at approximately 10:55 pm, officers on patrol were driving by the Thompson RCMP Detachment when they saw a male banging on the door. Officers approached the male, who was obviously injured. He indicated he had been stabbed. Officers immediately began providing first aid while calling for Emergency Medical Services.

When the 30-year-old male victim, from Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, had been taken to local hospital, officers then followed the blood trail to the nearby library. Realizing the incident likely occurred within range of the detachment video cameras, the footage was checked and the entire incident had been captured.

Descriptions of the two youths seen on camera stabbing the victim were provided to officers on patrol. The two male youths, 16 and 15 years of age, were located nearby. The 16-year-old was arrested without incident. The 15-year-old attempted to flee, but was quickly apprehended. The weapon was located on the 15-year-old.

The two suspects have been charged with Aggravated Assault and remain in custody.

The victim was transported to Winnipeg hospital for emergency surgery, where he remains in stable condition with serious injuries.

Queens District RCMP investigating serious collision

September 25, 2023, Port Mouton, Queens County, Nova Scotia…Queens District RCMP is investigating a serious collision that occurred on Hwy. 103 in Port Mouton, Queens County.

On September 25, 2023, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Queens District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision on Hwy. 103 in Port Mouton. RCMP officers learned that a Dodge Ram was travelling west on Hwy. 103 when it crossed over the centre line and into oncoming traffic. A Ford Edge, which was travelling east on Hwy. 103, swerved to avoid the Dodge Ram before the Ram collided with a Chevrolet Silverado that was also travelling east on Hwy. 103.

The passenger of the Silverado, a 40-year-old Lunenburg County woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by LifeFlight. The driver of the Silverado, a 46-year-old Lunenburg County man, along with the driver and passenger of the Edge, a 68-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman of Colorado suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene by EHS.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 21-year-old man of Shelburne, has been issued a Summary Offence Ticket for driving to the left of a solid double line.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Hwy. 103 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Moncton — 15-year-old youth arrested in connection with firearm offences

A 15-year-old youth has been arrested in connection with firearm and drug offences in Moncton, N.B.

On September 15, 2023, at approximately 4:28 a.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to reports of people breaking into vehicles in the Neville Street area in Moncton. When police arrived on scene, they quickly located the group and seized a prohibited firearm, a quantity of what is believed to be methamphetamine, money and other items.

A 15-year-old youth was arrested at the scene and was later released. They are scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on February 21, 2024.

The investigation is ongoing.

Stratford PE — Two Stratford men arrested for rental and construction fraud.

September 25, 2023, Stratford – RCMP has arrested two Stratford men for fraud in relation to several investigations of rental fraud and construction fraud.

On September 22, 2023 as part of a lengthy investigation Stratford RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Stratford and arrested two Stratford men for seven fraud schemes covering a timeframe from April 2023 running in to September 2023.

Kelly Giroux of Stratford has been charged with a total of eight counts of fraud involving seven incidents of fraudulently taking money for rental properties and fraudulently taking money for construction work. The total money lost by victims in these cases is just under $50,000.

A second man was also arrested and will be charged with two counts of fraud with regards to the same rental frauds involving Giroux.

Giroux was remanded into custody for a further hearing today and the second man will appear in court at a later date

This investigation was completed by the Stratford RCMP with the assistance of the Kings and Prince District RCMP, and the RCMP Provincial Priority Unit.

Hopedale — Hopedale RCMP charges ATV operator with dangerous driving

Following the report of a dangerous driver, Hopedale RCMP has laid multiple charges against 40-year-old John Bennett who was found to be dangerously operating a side-by-side in the community on August 29, 2023.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m. that day, Hopedale RCMP received a call from a resident who had almost been struck by an ATV that was being operated dangerously on a residential road. Police attended the scene, spoke with the resident and located the unoccupied ATV in a ditch.

Bennett was identified and he was located at a later date. He has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with an outstanding release order. He will appear in court in November.

Stephenville — Bay St. George RCMP continues impaired driving enforcement

Two drivers are under investigation by Bay St. George RCMP for impaired driving following recent incidents in the area.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on September 24, 2023, police received a report of a motor vehicle crash on Kippens Road in Kippens. A car struck a utility pole and landed on top of an unoccupied parked vehicle. The driver of the car, a 38-year-old woman, showed signs of alcohol impairment at the scene. She was transported to Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police accompanied the woman to the hospital where samples of her blood were obtained. The investigation is continuing to determine if charges of impaired driving are appropriate.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. on September 22, 2023, police received a report of a suspected impaired driver that had taken a vehicle without consent and departed a residence in Piccadilly. The unlicensed 33-year-old driver, who was on parole, fled from police at an attempted traffic stop in Stephenville and was located a short time later at a residence. He showed signs of alcohol impairment, was arrested and refused to provide breath samples. The man is currently remanded in custody for his parole violation. Charges are pending against him for impaired driving, refusing to provide breath samples, flight from police, dangerous operation, taking a motor vehicle without consent and breach of a probation order.

Southey — Southey RCMP: 46-year-old Strasbourg man charged with sexual offences involving a minor

On September 16, 2023, Southey RCMP received a report about suspicious activity occurring at a residence in Strasbourg, SK.

As a result of investigation, a search warrant was executed at the residence and a number of devices were seized. Investigation determined that messages of a sexual nature had been exchanged between an adult male and someone under the age of 16.

A 46-year-old male from Strasbourg, SK, was arrested on September 23, 2023, and charged with:

  • Child luring, Section 172.1 (1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Invitation to sexual touching, Section 152 CC
  • Arranging a sexual offence against a child, Section 172.2 (1)(b) CC
  • Possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5 (2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

At this time, we are not releasing the name of the accused to help protect the identity of the youth victim(s).

The accused will be remanded to appear in court. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Monday, September 25 at 9:30 a.m.
