Bonavista — Bonavista RCMP investigates 8 vehicle break-ins over two days; seeks surveillance footage of affected areas

Bonavista RCMP is investigating eight separate break and enters into vehicles in residential areas over the span of two nights.

Two vehicle break and enters were reported to Bonavista RCMP as having occurred sometime overnight on the evening of August 29. Six additional vehicle break and enters were reported as having occurred overnight on August 31, 2023.

The areas where vehicles were broken into are:

  • Groves Lane
  • Lench Lane
  • Sebastian Drive
  • Faulkner’s Hill
  • Windlass Drive
  • Benny’s Road

Police are asking anyone in these areas with video surveillance to please review the footage from 6:00 p.m. on August 29, 2023 up to 9:00 a.m. on August 31, 2023. Eel Ground First Nation — 33-year-old man arrested following drug seizure

A 33-year-old man has been arrested following a drug seizure on Eel Ground First Nation, N.B.

On August 28, 2023, at approximately 4:20 a.m., members of the Blackville RCMP detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on McKay Brook Road as part of an ongoing investigation. During the search, police seized quantities of what is believed to be methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and electronics.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and was later released pending a future court appearance.

The investigation is ongoing.

Stephenville — Bay St. George RCMP arrests two women for theft from multiple local businesses

Bay St. George RCMP arrested two women yesterday afternoon who were found to be in possession of over $2000.00 worth of stolen merchandise from multiple local businesses in Stephenville.

On August 29, 2023 the RCMP received a report of two women stealing a large amount of merchandise from a local store. The following day, August 30, RCMP learned that the same two had stolen merchandise from two other stores in the community.

They were arrested later in the afternoon of August 30 and have both been charged with five counts of Theft Under $5000 as well as Possession of Stolen Property. They were released to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation is continuing.

Oromocto — 30-year-old man charged following armed robbery

A 30-year-old man from Oromocto, N.B., has been charged following an armed robbery in the community.

On August 30, 2023, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a man entered a bank on Onondaga Street, in Oromocto, and demanded money while stating that he had a firearm in his backpack. Police arrived promptly to the scene, and the man was arrested without incident. He did not obtain any money, and the backpack and a pellet gun were seized.

On August 31, Chad Atkinson appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court and was charged with:

  • · Attempted robbery
  • · Possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence
  • · Carrying a concealed weapon
  • · Breach of probation

He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on September 5.

Moncton — Missing 22-year-old man

The Codiac Regional RCMP is asking for the public’s help to locate a missing 22-year-old man from Moncton, N.B.

Devin Fagan was last seen on August 31, 2023, at approximately 3 p.m., near a residence on George Street in Moncton. He was reported missing to police later the same day. Police have followed up on several leads to try and locate him, but have so far been unsuccessful. Police and his family are concerned for his wellbeing.

Devin Fagan is described at being approximately five feet five inches (165 centimetres) tall, and weighing approximately 130 pounds (59 kilograms). He has green eyes, and medium-length brown hair. He was last seen wearing grey cargo pants, ad black AC/DC t-shirt, and boots.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Codiac Regional RCMP at 506-857-2400.

Selkirk — Update – Selkirk RCMP search for missing man

Earlier this evening, Randy Vandale was located deceased.

No criminality is suspected in his death.

The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance.


On August 30, 2023, at 9:15 pm, Selkirk RCMP received a report of a missing 50-year-old male from a residence located in the City of Selkirk.

Randy John Vandale, 50, last spoke with a member of his family on August 29 at approximately 8:00 pm. He has not been seen or heard from since.

The RCMP and his family are concerned for his wellbeing.

White Butte — White Butte RCMP seeks public assistance locating 15-year-old female

White Butte RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 15-year-old Sireena Belanger-Moise.

Sireena was last seen at a residence in White Butte at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

Police are concerned for Sireena’s wellbeing and are requesting the public’s assistance in locating her. She is described as being 5’3″ and weighing approximately 114 lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes. She last wearing black shorts and a black shirt. We are working on obtaining a photo of her.

Sireena may of travelled to the Regina area but her current whereabouts are unknown.

Ross River — RCMP search efforts for missing person in Ross River continues ahead of hunting season

The investigation into the disappearance of Ramona Peter is still active. Searches and other follow ups are continuing as information is received. Ground, river and aerial searches in and around the community of Ross River have been extensive, thanks to assistance from Yukon Search and Rescue as well as dedicated community volunteers. Searches have also been conducted in Faro and inquiries have been made in Whitehorse and Watson Lake.

As we approach hunting season, the RCMP would like to remind people who are travelling on land and waterways in the Ross River area to be on the lookout for anything that may be associated to Ms. Peter’s disappearance, such as clothing.

The Pas — The Pas RCMP arrest male for weapon offences

On August 30, 2023, at approximately 10:15 pm, The Pas RCMP responded to two reports of a male in possession of a hammer on 7th Street, in The Pas, who was attempting to hit passing vehicles.

Officers immediately responded and located the suspect in the middle of the street. The suspect fled on foot but was arrested without incident after a brief pursuit.

A search of the suspect resulted in the seizure of a knife, pepper spray and a hammer.

Justin Charlette, 22, of The Pas, has been charged with;

Carrying a Concealed Weapon x2
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x3
Fail to Comply x3

He was released from custody on a Release order with conditions.

Clarenville — RCMP NL executes search warrants in Clarenville; drugs and cash seized, two men arrested

Two men, 39-year-old Steven Smith and 36-year-old Mitchell Smith, who were operating a drug-trafficking operation together in Clarenville, were arrested by RCMP NL on August 30, 2023. As part of an ongoing drug-trafficking investigation, search warrants authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act were executed at each of their homes. A combined amount of more than 250 grams of cocaine, more than 30 grams of methamphetamine and over $11,000.00 cash was located and seized.

Yesterday, RCMP officers with the East District General Investigation Section and Clarenville Detachment attended a residence on Clearwater Drive in Clareville and executed a search warrant. At the property, both men were arrested. Upon his arrest, Steven Smith was found in possession of a quantity of cash, a replica hand gun and other items consistent with drug trafficking.

In continuing the investigation, police then attended a residence on Thorburn Place in Clarenville where the second warrant was executed.

Inside each home, officers located and seized the following items:

  • A quantity of cocaine – combined amount of more than 250 grams
  • A quantity of methamphetamine – combined amount of more than 30 grams
  • A quantity of prescription medications
  • More than $11,000.00 cash
  • Other items consistent with drug trafficking

Both men attend court today and are charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – prescription medications
  • Possession of proceeds of crime

The investigation is continuing.
