Dauphin — Dauphin RCMP investigate reckless discharge of firearm

On September 1, 2023, at approximately 5:50 pm, Dauphin RCMP responded to a report of a shots fired, at an apartment building in Sifton.

RCMP attended and were advised that a shot was heard coming from one of the apartments. Officers cleared the residences and located a bullet hole in one of the walls of an apartment. No one was injured and no one was located inside.

Officers secured two of the apartments and began the process of obtaining search warrants. During this time two suspects returned to the scene and were arrested.

A search of the apartments resulted in the seizure of three shotguns, two rifles and ammunition.

Nick Ficzycz, 46, was arrested and charged with Reckless Discharge of Firearm, Careless Use of Firearm, Unsafe Storage of Firearms, Unauthorized Possession of Firearms and Resisting Arrest.
He was remanded into custody.

Kyle Shumsky, 36, has been charged with Unsafe Storage of Firearms and Unauthorized Possession of Firearms. He was released from custody on a release order.

Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.

RM of Springfield — Oakbank RCMP respond to extensive damage at Winnipeg water treatment plant

On September 3, 2023, at approximately 2:50 am, RCMP officers from Oakbank, Red River North and Selkirk, responded to a report of a break and enter at the Winnipeg Water Treatment Plant, located on Provincial Road 207, in the RM of Springfield.

Officers were advised that an unknown male entered the yard, climbed into an excavator and began to damage vehicles and buildings.

Upon arrival, officers observed numerous damaged vehicles in the parking lot and witnessed the excavator causing damage to a building.

Officers approached the excavator and climbed aboard, ordering the operator to stop the machine. He refused and a demand was made a second time, with which he complied.

The suspect resisted arrest and assaulted the officers while being taken into custody.

Neither the suspect nor the officers were injured.

Aaron Michael Yarema, 39, from Winnipeg, was remanded into custody on charges including Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Breaking and Entering, Resist Arrest (x2), Assault Police Officer, Mischief Over $5000 and Fail to Comply with a Release Order.

Oakbank RCMP continue to investigate.

Middle Sackville — RCMP charge two men following flight from police

Halifax District RCMP has charged two men following flight from police in Middle Sackville.

Yesterday, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Halifax District RCMP officers were on the lookout for impaired drivers at a traffic check point, on Margeson Dr. in Middle Sackville, when they observed a grey Kia approach at a high rate of speed. RCMP officers attempted to complete a traffic stop but the driver refused to stop.

RCMP officers quickly deployed a spike belt, which was successful, at the exit of the Indigo Shores subdivision. The Kia Forte came to a stop shortly after, on Hwy. 101, where both occupants exited the vehicle. A foot chase ensued and resulted in the passenger of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Dartmouth man, being arrested in the nearby brush. A search continued for driver.

This morning, at approximately 7 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a suspicious man, who matched the description of the driver, near Manor Dr. in Lower Sackville. The 27-year-old Meteghan man, who suffered minor injuries consistent with that of someone who had travelled through thick brush, was safely arrested.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen on September 1 in Weymouth.

Tyrel Anthony Comeau, 27, has been charged with:

  • Flight from Police;
  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime;
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer

Dustin Kempton Crowell, 30, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime;
  • Obstructs a Peace Officer;
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Both men were held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial court today.

The Pas — The Pas RCMP looking for missing youth

On September 4, 2023, at approximately 9:50 pm, The Pas RCMP received a report of a missing 10-year-old male. Laken Paul left his residence on Lathlin Avenue in The Pas on a bicycle at approximately 2:00 pm on September 4. He was last seen in the vicinity of the 800 block of Settee Avenue in The Pas at approximately 6:00 pm.

RCMP officers have made extensive patrols in the community and spoken with Paul’s family and friends. He has not been in touch with anyone since he left his residence.

Paul was last seen wearing a black and white varsity letterman jacket, black and gold shoes, and black shorts. He is riding a grey bike with the letter CCM on the frame.

Tilley — RCMP seeking public’s help identifying individual in connection with an attempted abduction

The Western Valley Region RCMP is asking for the public’s help to identify an individual in connection with an attempted abduction in Tilley, N.B.

On August 4, 2023, at approximately 9:40 a.m., members of the Western Valley Region RCMP responded to a report of a man who had approached a child and tried to get them into his vehicle on Walker Road in Tilley, N.B. The child fought the man and ran to a neighbouring house. The man left the scene before police arrived.

Police are now seeking the public’s help to identify the man involved. He is described as having black hair that is short in the front and longer in the back, heavy set, and in between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet eight inches (165 cm to 173 cm) tall.

Anyone who may have witnessed a man driving a white vehicle in the Walker Road area of Tilley, N.B. on September 4th in between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., or who may have security camera or dash cam footage from this time period, is asked to contact the Western Valley Region RCMP at 506-423-8719 as they may have information helpful to the investigation.

Sheshatshiu — Sheshatshiu RCMP investigates fire at the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation Band Council office

Sheshatshiu RCMP is investigating a suspected arson that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, September 4, 2023, at the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation Band Council office on Utshimau Street in Sheshatshiu.

Police received a call of an active fire at the building around 5:30 a.m. on Monday morning. Sheshatshiu RCMP attended the scene, where Sheshatshiu Fire Department and North West River Volunteer Fire Department were battling the blaze of the fully engulfed structure.

No one was inside the property at the time of the fire. The building was completely destroyed.

Provincial Fire Services have been engaged. The investigation is continuing.

Oromocto — Have you seen this stolen vehicle?

The Oromocto RCMP is asking for the public’s help to locate a stolen vehicle from the community.

The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on September 2, 2023 and 9:30 a.m. September 3, from a residence on Lindsay Lane in Oromocto.

The vehicle is described as a white 2020 Hyundai Tucson with New Brunswick licence plate JWP 959, and vehicle identification number KM8J3CAL8LU162795.

North Battleford — Battlefords RCMP seeks public assistance locating missing 27-year-old woman

On August 30, 2023 Battlefords RCMP received a report of a missing 27-year-old woman Julisa Adams.

Julisa Adams was last seen August 23, 20234 and in the community of Sweetgrass First Nation and has ties to the Battlefords, Spiritwood and Cut Knife areas. Since she was reported missing, Battlefords RCMP have been checking places Julisa Adams is known to visit and following up on information received. They are now asking members of the public to report information on Julisa Adams’s whereabouts.

Julisa Adams is described as 5’3″, brown eyes and brown hair.
