Whitehorse — Yukon RCMP Critical Incident Program to train in Whitehorse

Early next week, Yukon RCMP Critical Incident Program members will be conducting a training exercise in Whitehorse. On September 11, 2023, specialized units who work as part of the Critical Incident Program will be using the Ryder Apartments on 6th Avenue, near downtown Whitehorse, to conduct drills and practice their skills. RCMP want the public to be aware that there will be an increased police presence during the day.

“Training frequently allows police officers to maintain and improve their skills,” stated S/Sgt. Kent Langley, Yukon RCMP Acting District Operations and Support Services Officer. “Proactive activities like this mean that police can respond efficiently and effectively when called to keep Yukon communities safe.”

Anyone with questions about this exercise is encouraged to contact Yukon RCMP at 867 667 5555. Please do not enter the building or bypass barricades to talk with police in the area of the Ryder Apartments while they are training.

Yukon RCMP appreciates cooperation with Yukon Housing Corporation, which is facilitating the use the building for these exercises.

North Kentville — Missing man: Help the RCMP find Dwayne Alders

Kings District RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 41-year-old Dwayne Alders, of North Kentville, who was last seen yesterday evening on Nichols Ave. in Kentville.

Alders is described as 6-foot, 183 lbs. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing camouflage pants, a black sweater and black shoes.

When someone goes missing, it has deep and far-reaching impacts for the person and those who know them. We ask that people spread the word through social media respectfully.

Keswick Ridge — 37-year-old woman dies following single-vehicle crash

A 37-year-old woman has died following a single-vehicle crash in Keswick Ridge, N.B.

On September 8, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m., members of the Keswick RCMP detachment, Keswick Ridge Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Route 616 and Holyoke lane, in Keswick Ridge.

The driver, a 37-year-old woman from Keswick Ridge, was transported to hospital where she died from a result of her injuries. A young child, and only other passenger of the vehicle, was also located at the scene of the crash and was transported to hospital, but is not believed to have suffered any injuries.

The crash is believed to have occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and rolled several times.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s office are both assisting with the investigation.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the woman’s exact cause of death.

The road was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.

Moncton — Missing 35-year-old man

The Codiac Regional RCMP is asking for the public’s help to locate a missing 35-year-old man from Moncton, N.B.

Jody Fletcher was last seen on September 5, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m., near High Street and St. George Boulevard in Moncton. He was reported missing to police on September 8, 2023. Police have followed up on several leads to try and locate him, but have so far been unsuccessful. Police and his family are concerned for his wellbeing.

Jody Fletcher is described at being approximately five feet ten inches (178 centimetres) tall, and weighing approximately 220 pounds (100 kilograms). He has brown eyes and blond hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black sweater.

Deer Lake  — Deer Lake man charged with first-degree murder

Thirty-three-year-old Justin Campbell of Deer Lake has been charged with first-degree murder following his arrest yesterday afternoon. RCMP NL launched an investigation yesterday after a 69-year-old Deer Lake woman was found deceased in her home. The accused is a relative of the victim. 

Campbell appeared in court today and was remanded into custody, with his next court appearance scheduled for September 11, 2023.

Middle Sackville — Halifax District RCMP seeking public assistance in assault investigation

Halifax District RCMP is seeking information in relation to an assault with a weapon that occurred in Middle Sackville.

Yesterday, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to an assault with a weapon that occurred on Rafting Dr., near Fringe Dr., in Middle Sackville. RCMP officers learned that a man, travelling in a red Honda Civic, observed two male youths on foot when one of them shouted out, approached his vehicle and sprayed him with an irritant. Both youths then fled the area on foot.

The 23-year-old Middle Sackville man drove away and obtained medical assistance at a nearby residence.

The youth, who assaulted the man, is described as being in his mid teens and was wearing a red hoodie. The second youth, also in his mid teens, was wearing a black hoodie.

The investigation is ongoing.

Whitehorse RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating Daniel Tippett, who was reported missing on September 8, 2023. He was last seen on September 6, 2023, in the Copper Ridge neighbourhood of Whitehorse.

Description of Daniel Tippett:

  • age 16 years old;
  • Inuk;
  • 5 ft 9 in (175 cm);
  • 145 lbs (65 kg);
  • short brown hair;
  • brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing:

  • blue jeans;
  • hoodie (colour unknown);

Iqaluit — RCMP Execute Drug Warrant in Iqaluit

On September 6, 2023, the RCMP Major Crime Unit, Federal Arctic Unit, Forensic Identification Section and the Containment Team attended a home on Tasilik Street with a warrant to search the property authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Inside the house, two individuals were arrested. Officers located and seized a quantity of drugs, cash, electronic devices and other drug paraphernalia.

Allen Broughton (65) and Lena Nuyalia (39) have been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Possession of Property obtained by Crime, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.

Broughton and Nuyalia are set to appear at court in Iqaluit on September 11, 2023.

Lower Sackville — Police asking for the public’s assistance in robbery investigations

RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s assistance in relation to two robberies that occurred in Lower Sackville.

On August 27, shortly before 1 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store on Beaver Bank Rd., near Glendale Dr., in Lower Sackville. RCMP officers learned that a man entered the store, armed with a metal rod, threatened the employee and demanded money. The man then fled the scene on foot with cash.

On September 6, at approximately 3:35 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at the same convenience store on Beaver Bank Rd. RCMP officers learned that a man entered the business, presented a stick and demanded the contents of the till. The man then fled on foot, with cash, heading towards Glendale Dr.

During both incidents, the store employee was not physically injured.

At this time, investigators believe that the same man is responsible for both robberies. He’s described as white, approximately 5-foot-7 and slim build.
