Deer Lake — Arrest warrant issue for Shane White

Deer Lake RCMP and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in Corner Brook are looking to arrest wanted man, 39-year-old Shane Roderick White of Benoit’s Cove, who is actively evading police.

White is wanted in relation to a number of charges including:

  • Robbery
  • Robbery with the use of a firearm
  • Extortion with a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Failure to attend court – two counts
  • Failure to comply with a condition of a release order – eight counts

Natuashish — Arrest warrant issued for Wayne Mistenapeo

An arrest warrant has been issued for 28-year-old Wayne John Kaniuekutat Mistenapeo who is actively evading police.

Mistenapeo is wanted by Natuashish RCMP in relation to a number of charges including:

  • Assault
  • Uttering threats
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Breach of probation – two counts
  • Breach of a release order – three counts

Lower South River — Search warrant executed for drug trafficking investigation

The RCMP’s Antigonish-Guysborough Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has arrested multiple people after executing a search warrant at a home in Lower South River.

On January 2, officers from the Antigonish-Guysborough SCEU, with assistance from the Pictou County Integrated SCEU and the Antigonish County District RCMP, executed a search warrant at a residence on Rogers Dr. in relation to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Four people were arrested at the home without incident.

At the residence, investigators seized a quantity of cocaine, cash, five firearms, a taser, a baton, and property that had been stolen from a local business.

A 27-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, both of Lower South River, will face charges of:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Possessing a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

They were released from custody to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on February 26.

Ellsworth Decoste, 37, of Frankville, was also arrested at the residence for outstanding warrants. He faces new charges of Failure to Comply with Release Conditions (three counts) and Theft Under $5,000. He was held in custody and attended Antigonish Provincial Court on January 2.

The fourth person arrested was released without charges.

Harbour Grace — Harbour Grace RCMP investigates break, enter and theft at Scotiabank in Carbonear, stolen excavators and pickup truck used

Harbour Grace RCMP is investigating a break, enter and theft that occurred at the Scotiabank in Carbonear today, January 9, 2025. A stolen pickup truck and two stolen excavators were used during the commission of the crime.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m., a commercial pickup truck was stolen from a gated compound on Goff Avenue in Carbonear. Following this crime, two excavators that were parked on a commercial property adjacent to the Scotiabank on Powell Drive were stolen.

At approximately 1:25 a.m., Harbour Grace RCMP received a report of commercial alarm at the Scotiabank in Carbonear. Police arrived on the scene minutes after receiving the call for service and found the business heavily damaged by the two stolen excavators that remained at the scene. An ATM was extracted from inside the bank and was loaded into the stolen pickup truck which had departed the scene prior to police arrival.

Police believe multiple individuals are involved in this crime.

At approximately 6:45 a.m. this morning, police received information that the stolen truck departed Brigus Junction, entered onto the Trans-Canada Highway and exited the TCH at Middle Gull Pond. Following this information, the stolen pickup truck was located abandoned in a gravel pit off the Trans-Canada Highway near Middle Gull Pond and was recovered by Holyrood RCMP. Police believe suspects transported the ATM from the stolen pickup truck into another vehicle.

Harbour Grace RCMP is asking business owners, residents and anyone who may have been in Carbonear during the time of these crimes to check for all available surveillance footage. Additionally, police ask anyone in the area of Brigus Junction check for available surveillance footage of the stolen pickup truck. Officers are also asking individuals in the area of Middle Gull Pond to check surveillance for the stolen pickup truck or any other vehicle traveling in that area during the early morning hours today. Mahone Bay — Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit leads investigation into intimate partner deaths in Mahone Bay

The Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation of suspicious sudden deaths in Mahone Bay that were found to be the result of intimate partner violence.

On January 5, 2025, at approximately 1:05 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a request to check on the wellbeing of two people at a home on Long Hill Rd. in Mahone Bay. Responding officers found the remains of a 60-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man in the home. The deaths were believed to be suspicious and the Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit took carriage of the investigation.

In partnership with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office, the investigation has determined that the woman’s death was a result of homicide and that the man, who died as a result of self-inflicted wounds, was responsible for the woman’s death. This incident was the result of intimate partner violence.

Our thoughts continue to be with the loved ones of the deceased persons and the community at this difficult time.

Whitehorse — RCMP warn Yukoners about email scam

Whitehorse RCMP have recently received a report of a Yukoner receiving an extortion email claiming to be from the RCMP.

The RCMP states that the e-mail in question was titled as a legal document such as a subpoena would be, and the message accuses the reader of serious criminal charges and asks that they respond by email. The message may include the RCMP crest and use Government of Canada logos. This is a scam.

Law enforcement will never demand payment and will not threaten arrest by email. If in doubt, contact your local RCMP detachment directly. Swift Current — Saskatchewan RCMP charge two in Swift Current

Two adult males are facing drug trafficking and weapons charges after Saskatchewan RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Swift Current, SK.

On December 23, 2024 at approximately 11:45 a.m., officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT), Critical Incident Response Team, Police Dog Services, Swift Current General Investigation Section (GIS) and Swift Current Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on 10th Avenue NW in Swift Current.

Two adult males were arrested at the scene. While searching the residence, officers located and seized two replica firearms, two edged weapons, 36 grams of cocaine, a sum of cash and additional evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of investigation, 61-year-old Anthony Clark and 62-year-old Charles Johnston, both of Swift Current, have each been charged with:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • one count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, Section 354(1), Criminal Code.

Anthony Clark and Charles Johnston will make their first court appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court on February 12, 2025.

Rosthern RCMP continue to search for 68-year-old Kirk Brayford, who was reported missing to Rosthern RCMP on December 2.

He was last in touch with friends in mid-November, and hasn’t been in touch since – something out of character for him.

Kirk may be driving a white 2012 Mazda 3 with Saskatchewan license plate 447 HBS, which also has not been seen since he was reported missing.

Kirk is known to travel between Rosthern and Waskesiu. He’s an avid outdoorsmen and sometimes visits area trails. If you live in the Rosthern-Prince Albert-Waskesiu areas and notice any sign of Kirk or anything out of place on your property, please report it to police.

Rosthern RCMP seek public assistance locating missing man

On December 2, 2024, Rosthern RCMP received a report of a missing 68-year-old man, Kirk Brayford.

Kirk was last in touch with friends approximately two weeks ago. He hasn’t been in touch since, which is unusual for him.

Officers have checked places he is known to be and have not located him. They are now asking members of the public to report all sightings of Kirk and information on his whereabouts.

Kirk is described as approximately 5’8″ with an average build. He has short grey hair and brown eyes.

He may be driving a white 2012 Mazda 3 with Saskatchewan license plate 447 HBS.

Kirk is known to frequent the Rosthern area and visit the Waskesiu area, though his current whereabouts are unknown.

He requires medicine that police do not believe he has with him.

Barrington — Man wanted on province-wide arrest warrant

Barrington RCMP is seeking information on the whereabouts of a man currently wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant.

Steven Edward Goreham, 54, of Lower Clarks Harbour, is presently wanted for charges including but not limited to:

  • Assault
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Assault by Choking
  • Uttering Threats (two counts)
  • Mischief
  • Resisting a Peace Officer
  • Break and Enter (two counts)
  • Failure to Comply with Release Conditions (sixteen counts)
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order

These charges stem from multiple incidents, including a break and enter that led to an increased police presence in Clark’s Harbour on January 6.

Goreham is described as 5-foot-11, 190lbs. He has dark brown hair and blue eyes.

Investigators have made several attempts to locate Goreham and are requesting assistance from the public.

Colchester County — Update: Canada-wide warrant issued for Ronald Albert Canuel

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of Ronald Albert Canuel in relation to the homicides of two men.

On December 19, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Truro Police Service (TPS) received information that a 27-year-old Truro man and a 25-year-old Pictou Landing First Nation man attended hospital with serious injuries consistent with stab wounds.

On December 21, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Colchester County District RCMP and EHS responded to a report of a male in medical distress at a home on Vincent Dr. in Upper Onslow. The 25-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On December 22, at approximately 10 a.m., TPS and EHS responded to a male in medical distress at a home on Lavinia Dr. in Truro. The 27-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased men were identified as the victims of the stabbings that occurred in Colchester County, and on December 23, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service ruled the deaths as homicides.

Canuel is described as 5’9″, 150 lbs with very short blonde hair and blue eyes, and has multiple facial and neck tattoos.

The investigation is ongoing and is led by Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit with assistance from TPS, Colchester County District RCMP, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service and the Forensic Identification Services from both the RCMP and TPS.
