Ashern — Ashern RCMP search for missing 41-year old female

On December 14th, 2024, Ashern RCMP received a report of a missing 41-year-old female from Ashern.

Crystal Woodford was last seen December 13 in Lundar, after being dropped off at a business along Highway 6, and has not been in contact with anyone since.

Woodford is described as 5’5″ tall, 140lbs, shaved head with hair about an inch long, brown eyes, and wearing a black winter jacket with black sweat pants.

She may be in Winnipeg, Lundar, Eriksdale or Fairford.

Kerrobert — Kindersley RCMP seek public assistance locating missing 89-year-old man

On December 14, 2024, Kindersley RCMP received a report of a missing 89-year-old man, Frank Deitz.

Frank was last seen December 11, 2024 in Kerrobert, SK.

Frank is described as approximately 5’11” tall and 150 lbs. He has blue eyes and short gray hair. Frank is known to wear a black coat, western-style shirts and blue jeans. He may be travelling in a light brown 1997 Ford F150 truck with Saskatchewan license plate 837 NNX. There is a water tank in the box of the truck.

Since he was reported missing, Kindersley RCMP have been checking places Frank is known to visit, and following up on information received. They are now asking members of the public to report all information on his whereabouts.

Frank is known to travel to the Battlefords, Kindersley, Luseland and Macklin areas, but his current whereabouts are unknown.

On December 12, 2024, Dwayne Maxie was located and arrested by Regina Police Service. Dwayne Maxie was wanted by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes for one count, manslaughter, Section 236(a), Criminal Code.

Dwayne Maxie was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on Monday Dec 16, 2024 at 9:30 am.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continue to investigate.

On December 7, 2024, Saskatchewan RCMP located and arrested Jeremy Whitebear at a residence on White Bear First Nation. Jeremy Whitebear was wanted by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes for one count, second degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code in relation to the death of 33-year-old Talon Lonethunder.

Jeremy Whitebear was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on December 9, 2024.

Saskatchewan RCMP continue to work to locate 26-year-old Dwayne Maxie. Dwayne Maxie is described as approximately 6’2″ tall and 250 lbs. He has brown eyes and black hair. He also goes by the name ‘Georgie’. A photo of him is attached.

Update #2 – Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes investigating suspicious death

As a result of continued investigation, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes have identified and charged two adult males in relation to the death of 33-year-old Talon Lonethunder.

22-year-old Jeremy Whitebear from White Bear First Nation is charged with one count, second degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code.

26-year-old Dwayne Maxie from White Bear First Nation is charged with one count, manslaughter, Section 236(a), Criminal Code.

Warrants for the arrest of Jeremy Whitebear and Dwayne Maxie have been issued. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continue to work to locate and arrest Jeremy Whitebear and Dwayne Maxie and ask members of the public to report all sightings and information about their whereabouts.

Jeremy Whitebear is described as approximately 5’10” tall and 160 lbs. He has brown eyes and black hair. He has multiple tattoos, including a cross on the side of his face, the word “faded” on his forehead, roman numerals on his left hand, and script on his left wrist. A photo of him is attached.

Dwayne Maxie is described as approximately 6’2″ tall and 250 lbs. He has brown eyes and black hair.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes investigating suspicious death

On December 3, 2024 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Carlyle RCMP received a report of an injured individual at a residence on White Bear First Nation.

Officers immediately responded and located a deceased adult male. The adult male has been identified as a 33-year-old from Coronach. His family has been notified.

The death is considered suspicious and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is asking anyone with information to report it immediately to local police by dialling 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.

Investigators advise there will be an increased police presence on White Bear First Nation for an undetermined amount of time.

Ebb and Flow First Nation — Manitoba Major Crime Services investigating fatal shooting

On December 15, 2024, at approximately 7 :45 am, Ste. Rose RCMP responded to a report of a shooting on Highway 278, near the community of Ebb and Flow First Nation.

Immediately officers and Emergency Medical Services responded and located an injured 34-year-old male laying beside a truck, near the Ebb and Flow First Nation Arena.

The victim was transported to hospital in Dauphin where he later succumbed to his injuries.

RCMP identified a suspect and a 53-year-old male was arrested for Murder without incident at a residence in the community.

The suspect remains in custody.

Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services and Ste. Rose RCMP continue to investigate.

Happy Valley-Goose Bay — Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP investigates theft from NorthMart, seeks public’s assistance

Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect captured on surveillance video in relation to a theft that occurred at NorthMart on Hamilton River Road in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

On December 11, 2024, Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP received a report of a theft of a Starlink satellite kit from the store. Just before 8:30 p.m., a man entered the business, walked up to the Starlink satellite kit, grabbed it, and then walk out of the store without paying. The suspect left on foot and was wearing a dark coat and grey hoodie. Images of the suspect are attached.

Fredericton — New Commanding Officer Named for the New Brunswick RCMP

Assistant Commissioner Matco Sirotic has been named as the new Commanding Officer of the New Brunswick RCMP.

Starting his RCMP career in 2004 after graduating from Depot, Assistant Commissioner Sirotic was promoted to Corporal in 2012 and served as the Detachment Commander for Minto, New Brunswick. Progressing through the ranks, he moved to the Criminal Operations Division in Nunavut in 2014, where he was later promoted to Sergeant. In 2017, he became a Staff Sergeant and took on the role of Detachment Commander for the Iqaluit Detachment in Nunavut before transferring to Halifax, Nova Scotia, as the Watch Commander for the Halifax District.

In 2020, Assistant Commissioner Sirotic became a Commissioned Officer and served as the Director of the Atlantic Regional Departmental Security Section for Nova Scotia. Recognized for his leadership in operational policy and criminal operations, he was appointed Officer in Charge of Operational Policy at H Division in 2023. The next year, he was promoted to Superintendent and became Officer in Charge of Specialized Policing and Operational Support Services in New Brunswick.

“Since coming to J Division, I have been very taken with the level of care and expertise demonstrated by the membership, Public Service Employees, municipal employees, and the dedication of the management team,” says Assistant Commissioner Sirotic. “I am grateful to have returned to this fantastic province, and I am looking forward to building on the excellent work already in progress and continuing to move our division forward in the years to come.”

On December 11, 2024, Assistant Commissioner Matco Sirotic was appointed the thirty-second Commanding Officer of the New Brunswick RCMP, bringing extensive operational experience and a commitment to public safety and policing excellence.

Hampshire — Queens District RCMP investigating fatal two vehicle collision

Queens District RCMP is investigating a fatal two vehicle headon collision that occurred on Route 9 (Colville Road) in Hampshire involving an SUV and a pick-up truck.

December 15, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Queens District RCMP, North River Fire Department and Island EMS responded to a two vehicle headon collision on Route 9 (Colville Road) in Hampshire. RCMP officers learned that it would appear an SUV crossed the centre line and collided with a pick-up truck.

The driver and lone occupant of the SUV, a 47-year-old Prince County woman was pronounced deceased while being transported to the hospital. A youth from the truck suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and a woman from the truck also suffered non-life-threatening injuries; no one else was seriously injured in this collision.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended and the investigation is ongoing.

Route 9 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Our thoughts are with the victims’ families at this difficult time.

Summerfield — 24-year-old man dies following single-vehicle collision

A 24-year-old man from Coles Harbour, Nova Scotia has died following a single-vehicle collision on Route 2 in Summerfield, New Brunswick.

On December 13, 2024, at approximately 8:06 p.m., members of the Western Valley Region RCMP and the Perth-Andover Detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Route 2 in Summerfield.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the vehicle, travelling westbound on Route 2, veered off the road and landed in the ditch. The victim, a 24-year-old man, died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Members of Ambulance New Brunswick attended the scene.

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office are assisting with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.

Cold Lake — Alberta RCMP officer involved in shooting in Cold Lake

On Dec. 14, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m., Cold Lake RCMP responded to a 911 call of an attempted stabbing at a transit stop on 50 Street at 43 Avenue, in Cold Lake. Two officers arrived and located the male subject armed with an edged weapon. Officers used their intervention options, including a firearm, to bring the subject into custody.

The subject was transported to the local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. No officers or other civilians were injured during this incident.

In compliance with legislative requirements, the Director of Law Enforcement was immediately notified resulting in the deployment of ASIRT to conduct an independent investigation. The RCMP believes in accountability and transparency and in so doing will provide full support to the ASIRT investigators. Events like this are difficult for everyone involved.

Meadow Lake — Meadow Lake RCMP seek public assistance locating missing 16-year-old girl

On December 13, 2024, Meadow Lake RCMP received a report of a missing 16-year-old girl, Savannah Burnouf.

Savannah was last seen on Centre Street in Meadow Lake, SK around 6 p.m. on December 13. Since she was reported missing, Meadow Lake RCMP have been checking places Savannah is known to visit and following up on information received. They are now asking members of the public to report information on Savannah’s whereabouts.

Savannah is described as approximately 5’7″ tall and 140 lbs. She has brown eyes and long brown hair. She wears glasses. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black sweater, beige pants and black Nike shoes. A photo of her is attached.
