Sheshatshiu — RCMP NL welcomes second degree murder charge conviction against Natuashish man

Following a recent trial in Happy Valley-Goose Bay Supreme Court, 54-year-old Eric Rich of Natuashish was found guilty of a charge of second-degree murder. The charge was laid by RCMP NL’s Major Crime Unit in relation to the homicide death of a 37-year-old woman that occurred in Sheshatshiu on September 1, 2021.

The trial began on October 15, 2024, and concluded on December 14. Rich remains in custody at this time. The matter is set for sentencing, with a scheduled court date of January 17, 2025.

Sheshatshiu — Sheshatshiu RCMP looks to arrest wanted man Devon Gregoire (UPDATED)

Update: Devon Gregoire was arrested on December 18, 2024.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 27-year-old Devon Gregoire, who is wanted in relation to an assault.

Gregoire has been known to frequent the Coronation Street area in Sheshatshiu, however, his current whereabouts are unknown.

He is described as being approximately 6′ 1″ in height, 160—180 lbs, with brown eyes, and black hair, which can be short or long in length. His image is attached.

Glovertown — Man arrested by Glovertown RCMP following reports of violent crimes

Thirty-one-year-old Brandan Bungay was arrested by Glovertown RCMP on December 15, 2024, following reports of recent violent crimes.

On December 9, 2024, Glovertown RCMP received a report that, while unlawfully inside a residence in Dover, Bungay assaulted an occupant of the home. On December 10, police received a report of a residential disturbance in Dover. A woman was threatened and assaulted. On December 13, in Dover, a man was struck by a vehicle allegedly operated by Bungay. In each instance, officers responded, looking to arrest Bungay, who was evading police. A warrant for his arrest was issued and shared on social media. On December 14, police responded to a single-vehicle crash in Centreville involving a vehicle operated by Bungay. Prior to the vehicle departing the roadway, Bungay allegedly assaulted a passenger of the vehicle.

On December 15, 2024, Bungay was arrested outside of a home in Dover without further incident. He attended court on December 16, 2024, charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Assault – two counts
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Threats
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling

Bungay was released by the court on a number of conditions, including a daily curfew from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. His next court date is set for January 21, 2025.

La Loche  — La Loche RCMP seek public assistance locating missing 23-year-old male

On December 16, 2024, La Loche RCMP received a report of a missing 23-year-old male, Tazz Piche.

Tazz was last seen on December 14, 2024 at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Circle Drive North in La Loche, SK.

Tazz is described as approximately 5’10” tall and 175 lbs. He has brown eyes and short black hair. Tazz has a small tattoo under his left eye and tattoos on both his arms. He was last seen wearing all black clothing and Helly Hansen boots. We are working to obtain a photo of him.

Sussex — Missing 13-year-old girl

The Sussex RCMP is asking for the public’s help to locate a missing 13-year-old girl from Penobsquis, N.B.

Sienna Phillips was last seen on December 17, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., near 55 Leonard Drive in Sussex. She was reported missing to police the same day. Police have followed up on several leads to try and locate her, but have so far been unsuccessful. Police and her family are concerned for her wellbeing.

Sienna Phillips is described as being approximately 5 feet 3 inches (160 centimetres) tall, and weighing approximately 120 pounds (54 kilograms). She has one hazel eye, one brown eye, and orange hair. She was last seen wearing a black Columbia jacket, headphones, and is known to wear glasses.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Sussex RCMP at 506-433-7700.

Thompson — Thompson RCMP searching for missing 26-year-old man

On December 16, 2024, at 3:00 pm, Thompson RCMP received a report of a missing 26-year-old male from a residence located on Brandon Crescent in Thompson.

Kinkaid Thomas, from Bunibonibee Cree Nation, was last seen earlier in the morning on December 16, at approximately 12:05 am, and he has yet to make contact with friends or family.

He’s described as being 5’9″, 160lbs with brown hair & brown eyes & has a moustache. He was last seen wearing a grey jacket and black pants.

Gypsumville — Gypsumville RCMP make significant weapons seizure

On December 2, 2024, Gypsumville RCMP received a report of a weapons complaint in the community of Dauphin River.

After a lengthy investigation, a search warrant was obtained by RCMP after consultation with the National Weapons Support Enforcement Team (NWEST), Manitoba East District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (MED CREST), and Manitoba’s Emergency Response Team (ERT).

On December 13, 2024, a search of a residence in Lake St. Martin in the RM of Grahamdale was completed where officers seized a significant number of various firearms plus ammunition.

Cocaine, suppressors, and hard body armour were all located within the residence as well.

Keeni Ross, 19, of Lake St. Martin has been charged with the following:

• Uttering Threats Against a Person
• Possession of a Prohibited Weapon When Knowing Possession Unauthorized x4
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Fail to Comply with Release Orderx2
• Using Firearm in the Commission of an Offence While Committing Offence
• Possession of Restricted Firearm/Prohibited Weapon with Ammo without Licence x8
• Possession of Firearm When Knowing Possession Unauthorized x3
• Unsafe Storage of Firearms x3
• Possession of Firearm with Tampered Serial Number
• Weapons Possession Contrary to Order and Fail to Surrender Authorization x3
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Less Than of Equal to $5000
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking

Robert Sinclair, 27, and Gerald Sinclair, 28, both of Lake St. Martin were also arrested and charged with Uttering Threats Against a Person.

Gerald has been remanded and remains in custody along with Ross. Robert was released on an Undertaking.

The investigation continues.

Glovertown — Arrest warrant issued for Brandan Bungay (UPDATED)

Glovertown RCMP is looking to arrest 31-year-old Brandan Bungay who is actively evading police.

Bungay is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Assault – two counts
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling
  • Uttering threats

Bungay has been known to frequent the areas of Dover and Centreville, however, his current whereabouts are unknown.

Holyrood — RCMP investigation continues for RBC back hoe break and enter in Holyrood; one man charged

Thirty-three-year-old Jason James Weir of Conception Bay South was arrested by Holyrood RCMP and is charged with a number of offences in relation to a break, enter and theft that occurred at the RBC bank in Holyrood on December 16, 2024. A back hoe was used to gain access to the building, causing extensive damage. An ATM, which was stolen from inside the bank, was recovered.

Weir was arrested a short time after the crime occurred, located and stopped by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary on the Trans-Canada Highway near Paddy’s Pond. He was operating a dump truck that was used in the commission of the break and enter. Weir was arrested by Holyrood RCMP at the traffic stop where officers located and recovered the stolen ATM in the dump of the dump truck.

He attends court today, charged with break and enter, mischief over $5000.00 (property damage), possession of stolen property and breaching conditions of a release order.

Three other individuals were released without charge. RCMP NL’s East District General Investigation Section is continuing the investigation with further charges possible.

RCMP asks area residents or those who were in the area of the Conception Bay Highway in Holyrood between 3:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m., on December 16, 2024, to check for any available surveillance or dash cam footage. Specifically, police are seeking information about a Weir’s Construction dump truck, a 2011 grey Jeep Patriot and or a 2002 dark blue Ford F-350 truck. Pictures of each vehicle are attached.

The investigation is ongoing.

Oromocto  — Have you seen this stolen car?

The Oromocto RCMP is seeking the public’s help to locate a stolen car from Oromocto, N.B.

The theft is believed to have occurred at approximately 6 p.m., on December 12, 2024, in a parking lot on Restigouche Road North, in Oromocto, N.B.

The vehicle is described as a white 2007 Infiniti G35, with Ontario license plate CXRL 367 and vehicle identification number JNKCV54E17M900859. The vehicle has a body kit, white rims, a small spoiler and the roof of the vehicle is black. One of the headlights on the vehicle is burnt out.
