RM of Hanover — Steinbach RCMP respond to report of skid-steer loader falling through ice

On December 24, 2024, at 1:30 pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report that a skid-steer loader had fallen through the ice on a pond located at an address in the RM of Hanover.

Steinbach RCMP attended, along with local fire and EMS.

Officers were advised that a 58-year-old male was operating the skid-steer loader on the pond when it went through the ice.

With the assistance of the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART), the body of the 58-year-old male was recovered later that afternoon.

Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate.

Ashern — Update – Ashern RCMP search for missing 41-year old female

Update December 19 – Crystal Woodford as been safely located.

On December 14th, 2024, Ashern RCMP received a report of a missing 41-year-old female from Ashern.

Crystal Woodford was last seen December 13 in Lundar, after being dropped off at a business along Highway 6, and has not been in contact with anyone since.

Woodford is described as 5’5″ tall, 140lbs, shaved head with hair about an inch long, brown eyes, and wearing a black winter jacket with black sweat pants.

She may be in Winnipeg, Lundar, Eriksdale or Fairford.

Ebb and Flow First Nation — Update – Manitoba Major Crime Services investigating fatal shooting

On December 15, 2024, at approximately 7 :45 am, Ste. Rose RCMP responded to a report of a shooting on Highway 278, near the community of Ebb and Flow First Nation.

Immediately officers and Emergency Medical Services responded and located an injured 34-year-old male laying beside a truck, near the Ebb and Flow First Nation Arena.

The victim was transported to hospital in Dauphin where he later succumbed to his injuries.

RCMP identified a suspect and a 53-year-old male was arrested for Murder without incident at a residence in the community.

The suspect remains in custody.

Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services and Ste. Rose RCMP continue to investigate.

Thompson — Thompson RCMP respond to firearm complaint at Thompson General Hospital

On December 24, 2024, at approximately 4:00 pm, Thompson RCMP responded to a report of a firearm being discharged in the chapel at the Thompson General Hospital.

Officers responded immediately and when they arrived on scene, hospital security personnel had detained a lone male.

During their investigation, officers discovered a hole in the window of the chapel that was produced from a firearm, along with ammunition on the floor.

No one was injured in the discharge of the firearm, and officers located and seized the weapon used in the incident.

Russell Hyslop, 33, from Thompson, was arrested and has been remanded. Hyslop is being charged with the following:

  • Discharge Firearm while Being Reckless
  • Mischief Under $5,000 – Damage to Property
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm when Knowing Possession Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm/Prohibited Weapon with Ammunition without License
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Weapons Possession Contrary to Order and Fail to Surrender Authorization
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purposes

Thompson RCMP and Manitoba RCMP Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.

Poplar River First Nation — Poplar River RCMP respond to fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision

On December 26, 2024, at 2:20 am, Poplar River RCMP received a report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision that occurred on Southside Road in the community. The suspect vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

Officers attended the collision scene and located the victim, a 43-year-old male from Poplar River First Nation, on the roadway who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Grand Falls — RCMP seeking public’s help following mail thefts

The Saint-Léonard RCMP is asking for the public’s help following damage to community mailboxes and theft of mail in Grand Falls, N.B.

Two separate incidents are believed to have occurred on December 20, 2024, between 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., as well as sometime between December 25 and 26, at the community mailboxes on Price Road, in Grand Falls. Multiple mailboxes were forced open and a number of packages and envelopes were stolen.

Anyone who lives in the area and witnessed suspicious activity at the time of the incident, who has surveillance footage from the time of the incident, or who has information that could help further the investigation is asked to contact the Saint-Léonard RCMP at 506-473-3137. Yorkton — Yorkton RCMP seeking public’s assistance locating unlawfully-at-large male

Yorkton RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in locating an adult male who is an inmate of Whitespruce Provincial Training Centre. Staff noticed 36-year-old Martin Oochoo was not present at the facility on December 25 and reported the incident to police.

Since his absence was reported to police, Yorkton RCMP have been working to locate him and are now asking the public to report sightings and information on his whereabouts.

Oochoo is now considered unlawfully at large and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Oochoo is described as approximately 5’9″ and 165 pounds, with brown eyes. He has a tattoo of a rose on his neck and of a cross on his upper right arm.

He is known to visit Regina, but his current whereabouts are unknown.

Colchester County — Police seeking information in relation to two deaths ruled homicides

RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit (NEN MCU) is seeking information in relation to two deaths that have been ruled as homicides in Colchester County.

On December 19, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Truro Police Service (TPS) received information that a 27-year-old Truro man and a 25-year-old Pictou Landing First Nation man attended hospital with serious injuries consistent with stab wounds.

From the information gathered, investigators believe that the victims were assaulted by a person or persons in Colchester County. At this time, officers do not believe the incident was random.

On December 21, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Colchester County District RCMP and EHS responded to a report of a male in medical distress at a home on Vincent Dr. in Upper Onslow. The 25-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On December 22, at approximately 10 a.m., Truro Police Service and EHS responded to a male in medical distress at a home on Lavinia Dr. in Truro. The 27-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased men were identified as the victims of the stabbings.

On December 23, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service ruled the deaths as homicides.

The investigation is ongoing and is led by NEN MCU with assistance from TPS, Colchester County District RCMP, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service and the Forensic Identification Services from both the RCMP and TPS.

Hay River — Hay River RCMP Respond to Two Shootings Over Long Weekend

On November 9th, 2024, Hay River RCMP were dispatched to a report that a person had been shot in the area of Pine Crescent. Officers attended the location and learned that a residence had been set on fire. A male victim had exited the house upon noticing the fire and was subsequently shot, receiving non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had already fled the scene upon police arrival.

On November 11th, 2024, Hay River detachment received a call that shots had been fired into a residence in the Rowe’s Trailer Court, after which suspects had fled in a vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Both of these incidents are believed to be linked to the drug trade and organized crime. Investigation into the matters is underway with support from the Crime Reduction Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Major Crimes Unit. No arrests have been made at this time.

Sturgeon Lake First Nation — Prince Albert RCMP: one charged after stolen vehicle flees from officers

On December 20, 2024 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a robbery on Sturgeon Lake First Nation.

Officers immediately responded. Investigation determined several individuals approached a male victim. The victim was threatened and his vehicle was stolen. The victim was not physical injured during the incident.

Officers began patrolling to locate the stolen vehicle and soon located it driving on Sturgeon Lake First Nation. They attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop.

Officers set up a tire deflation device. The suspect vehicle abruptly made a u-turn to avoid it, almost striking two police vehicles. Officers continued to follow it. It eventually came to a stop and the three occupants were arrested.

As a result of continued investigation, 29-year-old Tonisha Fulton from Prince Albert is charged with:

  • two counts, assault police officer with weapon, Section 270.01(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code; and
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.

She appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on December 23, 2024.

Tonisha Fulton was also arrested on a warrant from Prince Albert Police Service.

The other two individuals arrested were released without charge.

The investigation continues.
