A man has been charged with a murder last summer in Islington.

[F] Michael Dyra, 22, (29.12.95) of Hoxton, N1, was charged on Thursday, 8 February with the murder of Jonathan McPhillips.

Dyra was further charged with grievous bodily harm with intent; violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.

He appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrate’ Court today – Friday, 9 February – and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey next week.

On 25 February 2017 at around 00:40hrs, police were called by London Ambulance Service (LAS) to reports of a stabbing on Upper Street, N1.

Jonathan McPhillips, a 28-year-old father-of-two, was found injured and taken to an east London hospital where he died on 1 March 2017.

A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as a single stab wound to the chest.

Dyra was arrested on 22 March 2017 and charged as above.

Eight other men were arrested in connection with the investigation. Six of the men have been released under investigation and two have been released with no further action.
