RCMP Traffic Services East seized a vehicle deemed unsafe for the roads on Wednesday afternoon following a traffic stop outside of Clarenville. The owner of the vehicle was ticketed after an investigation revealed that the vehicle was also being operated without valid insurance.

At approximately 2:40 p.m. on January 14, 2026, a traffic services officer on patrol along Route 230 near Lethbridge observed a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that appeared to be unfit for the roadway and conducted a traffic stop.

The operator — a 47-year-old man — was unable to provide insurance and registration documents, and further investigation revealed that the vehicle did not have proper insurance.

The vehicle was seized and impounded, and police issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for operating without insurance.
