Saskatchewan RCMP arrested three individuals in Balgonie, SK as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.
On January 10, 2025, officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Yorkton Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) located two suspects in a drug trafficking investigation – an adult male and adult female – at a business at the intersection of Highway #1 and Highway #46. The suspects were arrested along with a third individual.
During searches of the suspects and the suspect vehicle, officers from Yorkton STRT and White Butte Detachment located and seized 58 grams of cocaine, a small amount of fentanyl, a sum of cash and other evidence of drug trafficking.
As a result of investigation, Christopher Haines, a 49-year-old man from Esterhazy, SK is charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Additionally, Christine Duchek, a 49-year-old woman from Esterhazy, SK, is charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
- one count, possession (fentanyl), Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The third individual was released without charges.
Christopher Haines and Christine Duchek made their first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on January 13, 2025.
