Hay River — Hay River RCMP Respond to Two Shootings Over Long Weekend

On November 9th, 2024, Hay River RCMP were dispatched to a report that a person had been shot in the area of Pine Crescent. Officers attended the location and learned that a residence had been set on fire. A male victim had exited the house upon noticing the fire and was subsequently shot, receiving non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had already fled the scene upon police arrival.

On November 11th, 2024, Hay River detachment received a call that shots had been fired into a residence in the Rowe’s Trailer Court, after which suspects had fled in a vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Both of these incidents are believed to be linked to the drug trade and organized crime. Investigation into the matters is underway with support from the Crime Reduction Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Major Crimes Unit. No arrests have been made at this time.

Police are further requesting Hay River residents with security/doorbell cameras check footage for suspicious activity during the following timeframes:

  • November 9th – 3:00a.m. – 5:00a.m. – area of Pine Crescent, Balsam Drive

· November 11th – 3:00a.m. – 5:00a.m. – area of Rowe’s Trailer Court and Stewart Drive

If suspicious activity is observed, contact the Hay River RCMP and an officer will review the footage.
