Port Saunders — Port Saunders RCMP executes search warrants at residence in Port Saunders and cabin in Hawke’s Bay; firearms seized and man arrested

Fifty-five-year-old Scott Lavers of Port Saunders was arrested by RCMP on December 16, 2024, following the search of a home in Port Saunders and a cabin in Hawke’s Bay. A number of firearms were seized.

With assistance from St. Anthony, Roddickton, Bay St. George and Rocky Harbour RCMP Detachments, as well as Police Dog Services, warrants authorized under the Criminal Code were executed at the two properties. The following items were located and seized:

  • Two high-powered rifles
  • A semi-automatic rifle
  • A quantity of ammunition
  • Firearms parts
  • Stolen property

Lavers was arrested at the residence in Port Saunders on December 16. He is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000.00;
  • Unsafe storage of firearms;
  • Possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized;
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm.

He attended court on December 17, 2024, and was released from custody on conditions. His next court date is scheduled to take place on April 8, 2025.
