Holyrood RCMP is investigating a break, enter and theft at the RBC bank in Holyrood. A stolen backhoe was used to access the property, causing extensive damages. Four individuals were arrested overnight.
At approximately 3:45 a.m. on December 16, 2024, Holyrood RCMP received the report of the commercial break and enter that just occurred at the RBC bank on Conception Bay Highway. Officers arrived at the scene moments after the report and observed that the business was heavily damaged by a backhoe, which was abandoned at the scene. Information suggested two other vehicles, a dump truck and a pickup truck, were involved in the crime and fled the scene. Assistance was requested of the RNC with the vehicle descriptions provided.
A short time later, the RNC located the described suspect vehicles, which were heading east on the Trans-Canada Highway, near Paddy’s Pond. Both vehicles were stopped. Holyrood RCMP joined the RNC at the traffic stops and arrested four individuals in relation to this crime. The two vehicles, a dump truck and a pickup truck, were seized. An ATM was recovered from the dump truck. The backhoe, which was stolen from a business in Holyrood prior to this crime, was also seized as part of this investigation.
The investigation is continuing with charges anticipated.
