Hampshire — Queens District RCMP investigating fatal two vehicle collision

Queens District RCMP is investigating a fatal two vehicle headon collision that occurred on Route 9 (Colville Road) in Hampshire involving an SUV and a pick-up truck.

December 15, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Queens District RCMP, North River Fire Department and Island EMS responded to a two vehicle headon collision on Route 9 (Colville Road) in Hampshire. RCMP officers learned that it would appear an SUV crossed the centre line and collided with a pick-up truck.

The driver and lone occupant of the SUV, a 47-year-old Prince County woman was pronounced deceased while being transported to the hospital. A youth from the truck suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and a woman from the truck also suffered non-life-threatening injuries; no one else was seriously injured in this collision.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended and the investigation is ongoing.

Route 9 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
