Earlier this fall, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) informed Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert General Investigation Section (GIS) of a seizure of illicit drugs at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary outside of Prince Albert.
Background from the CSC is available here.
Investigation determined that a drone approached the penitentiary towing a package on a rope. The package was intercepted by an inmate. CSC staff observed the event and immediately began an investigation. Staff located and seized approximately 83 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of cannabis concentrate, tobacco and cell phones/chargers within the penitentiary. GIS was then notified.
On December 3, 2024, three inmates were arrested and charged in relation to this ongoing investigation by GIS.
36-year-old Andrew Corrigal and 31-year-old Donnely Nanaquewetung are each charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
28-year-old Cy Sharp is charged with one count, trafficking methamphetamine, Section 5(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
They remain in custody. Their court dates are pending.
The investigation continues. Anyone with information should report it to their local police of jurisdiction. Dial 310-RCMP to reach your local RCMP detachment. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
GIS thanks the CSC for their continued partnership.
