Yellowknife — NT RCMP ICE Unit Lay Child Pornography Charges

In October of 2023, the Northwest Territories RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) entered into a child pornography investigation. Information indicated the offences were being committed at an address in Yellowknife.

In February of 2024, a suspect was arrested and a search warrant was executed on a residence in Yellowknife. Several electronic devices were seized and sent for forensic examination. The suspect was released pending the results of the examination.

Forensic analysis was subsequently completed and afforded evidence to support formal charges.

On October 17th, 39-year-old Angel Anderson of Yellowknife was arrested and charged with:

  • Transmitting child pornography (2 counts), contrary to section 163.1(3) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of child pornography, contrary to section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code

She appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was subsequently released with several conditions to abide by, including:

  • You shall not obtain or continue any employment, or be a volunteer in a capacity that involves being in a position of trust or authority towards persons under the age of 16 years.
  • You shall have no contact directly or indirectly with any person under the age of 16 years unless you are in the company of an adult who has been approved for such purpose in writing by your Bail Supervisor.
  • You shall not attend a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, or a daycare centre, schoolground, playground, public library, or community centre

She will appear in Territorial court on December 10th, 2024 in Yellowknife.
