A 58-year-old woman from Saint Charles North, N.B., has died following a two-vehicle collision in Upper Rexton, N.B.
On July 12, 2024, at approximately 6:35 p.m., members of the Richibucto RCMP detachment responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision between a car and a pickup truck on Highway 116 in Upper Rexton. The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck sustained no injuries, but was transported to hospital as a preventative measure.
The collision is believed to have occurred when the car, travelling eastbound, crossed the centre line and collided head-on with the truck, travelling westbound.
Members of the Rexton Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist also attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office attended the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the woman’s exact cause of death.
