Oromocto — 17-year-old youth charged in connection with break and enters, mischief

A 17-year-old youth has been charges in connection with a series of break and enters, and mischief in Oromocto, NB.

On May 16, 2024, the Oromocto RCMP received a number of reports of break and enters at several local businesses that had happened during the overnight hours. Members began their investigation and were quickly able to obtain a picture of the suspect.

Later that day, the Oromocto RCMP received a report of an arson in the community. A witness provided a description of the suspect who matched the one from the series of break and enters.

Members were able to locate and arrest a 17-year-old youth in connection with the incidents, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services.

On May 18, the youth appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court and was charged with:

  • Three counts of break and enter
  • Two counts of mischief under $5000
  • Possession of break in equipment
  • Attempted theft of a vehicle

The youth was remanded into custody, and will return to court on May 21.

The investigation is ongoing.
