Fifty-two-year-old Kamel Kharooba of Ontario was arrested by Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP on Saturday, May 11, 2024, following a traffic stop where a quantity of cocaine and paraphernalia were seized.
Just before 3:00 a.m., Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Kharooba’s vehicle after noticing a burned-out headlight and failure to use a turn signal. Upon further investigation, police determined that Kharooba was driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle while prohibited by a Canada-wide restriction from a previous offence.
Furthermore, during the traffic stop, police located and seized a quantity of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Kharooba was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation while prohibited
- Possession of controlled substance (cocaine)
The investigation is continuing.
