Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP is investigating a collision that occurred between a pickup truck and a tractor trailer on the evening of May 10, 2024 on the Trans Canada Highway near Bishop’s Falls. The driver of the pickup truck, a 41-year-old woman, died at the scene.
Police received the report of the collision just before 7:00 p.m. on Friday. A Dodge Ram pickup had departed the eastbound lane of traffic and collided with an oncoming tractor trailer travelling westbound. Bishops Falls Fire Department, emergency medical services from Grand Falls-Windsor and Provincial Highway Enforcement also attended the scene.
The passenger of the pickup truck was transported via ambulance to Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured but taken to the hospital for medical assessment.
An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is engaged.
The investigation is continuing.
