Investigative Recap
January 18: A Yorkton RCMP officer was conducting proactive patrols. At approximately 7 p.m., the officer observed a vehicle with no lights on. The vehicle pulled over and parked shortly after and the officer approached it. The officer observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and the occupants of the vehicle were arrested. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located and seized small amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl, trafficking paraphernalia, a baton and ID cards not belonging to the occupants of the vehicle.
Additional investigation determined the driver of the vehicle provided the officer the driver’s license of a different individual.
As a result of continued investigation, 26-year-old Kaylee Turnbull from Keeseekoose First Nation is charged with:
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
- three counts, use/traffic/possess a forged document, Section 368(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, forgery, Section 367, Criminal Code; and
- one count, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.
26-year-old Donovan Straightnose from Yorkton is charged with:
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
- three counts, use/traffic/possess a forged document, Section 368(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code; and
- two counts, possession of weapon while prohibited, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.
Kaylee Turnbull is scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on March 25, 2024. Donovan Straightnose is scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on March 18, 2024.
Yorkton RCMP’s General Investigation Section continues to investigate.
January 24: At approximately 4:30 a.m., Broadview RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle on Kahkewistahaw First Nation. Officers immediately responded, located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop and rammed the police vehicle before entering the ditch. The driver was arrested. The officers in the police vehicle were not injured and the suspect was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Investigation determined the vehicle had been reported as stolen in Regina on January 23.
31-year-old Faith Nelson from Broadview is charged with:
- one count, failure or refusal to comply with demand, Section 320.15(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, operation of conveyance while impaired by drug, Section 320.14(1)(a), Criminal Code;
- two counts, mischief over $5000, Section 430(3), Criminal Code;
- one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, Section 320.13(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, theft over $5000, Section 334(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.
She is scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on January 25, 2024.
January 25: Punnichy RCMP continue to ask public to report whereabouts of Shelley Dustyhorn
January 25: Saskatchewan RCMP’s Kindersley detachment, Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team and Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Kindersley in relation to a firearms investigation. Officers located and seized an airsoft handgun, a loaded magazine, ammunition, approximately 12 grams of cocaine, approximately 5.5 gram of methamphetamine, a sum of cash and trafficking paraphernalia. Two males were arrested at the residence.
As a result of further investigation, 34-year-old Stefan Holowaychuk from Kindersley is charged with one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The other male was released without charge.
Stefan Holowaychuk is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on January 29, 2024.
The investigation continues.
January 26: Saskatchewan RCMP WEST asking public to report sightings of Kelfort Keller
Moose Jaw RCMP seek public assistance in identifying individuals involved in property damage
On August 12, 2023 at approximately 12:20 p.m., Moose Jaw RCMP received a report of a driver destroying roadside property in the RM of Moose Jaw.
Investigation determined between August 7, 2023 and August 12, 2023 at approximately 4:30 a.m., two males and one female struck multiple road signs with a red Ford F-150 truck before loading them in the vehicle and leaving the scene. It is unknown how many street signs were damaged and stolen. Officers later located and recovered a number of the damaged signs in the RM of Moose Jaw.
Moose Jaw RCMP continues to investigate and is asking the public for assistance in identifying the individuals involved.
