On January 3, 2024, at approximately 8:30 pm, officers with the Dauphin RCMP Detachment responded to a property on Whitmore Avenue in regards to a disturbance in a hallway.
Responding officers attended and located an intoxicated 30-year-old male in the hallway who advised police that he was involved in a fight with another male.
As officers were attempting to converse with this male, a report was received indicating an injured male was located in an apartment further down the hall. Officers approached the apartment and located a 52-year-old male with serious injuries. The victim was transported to hospital where he later declined to speak with police.
The 30-year-old male suspect in the hallway was detained and after further questioning, became combative with officers and was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Resisting Arrest.
The accused was transported back to the Dauphin Detachment where he continued his violent and belligerent behaviour. Officers were assaulted and spit on as they lodged the accused in cells.
The following day, the accused was released on an Undertaking for Court scheduled for March 5, 2024, in Dauphin where he will appear on charges of Assaulting a Police Officer x2 and Resisting Arrest.
Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
