On January 3, 2024, at approximately 11:45 pm, Virden RCMP were patrolling on Highway 21 in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation when a vehicle was located travelling well under the speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted.
The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old female from the community, was found to be breaching her curfew conditions and was arrested. The 35-year-old male passenger, also from the community, had a warrant and was arrested. On search of the vehicle, methamphetamine was located, as well as drug paraphernalia, and a rifle with ammunition.
Both occupants of the vehicle are facing drug-related charges. The driver is also facing firearm charges. Both were released with a court date as directed by the courts.
