Steinbach — Steinbach RCMP arrest WANTED male

On December 19, 2023, as part of an ongoing investigation, Steinbach RCMP along with the Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services, were at a residence in Mitchell.

Officers were in the process of executing a warrant to enter a residence to arrest a WANTED 32-year-old male, when the male exited the residence, got into a vehicle and attempted to drive off. Officers blocked the suspect in, however the male refused to stop and rammed a police vehicle. His vehicle became inoperable and he was subsequently arrested.

No one was injured during the incident.

The vehicle used by the suspect was confirmed to be stolen.

Steven Wiebe, 32, was charged with:

Assault on a Peace Officer
Assault with a Weapon
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Flight from Peace Officer
Resisting Arrest
Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Fail to Comply

He was also WANTED on 26 other outstanding charges.

He was remanded into custody.
