On Dec. 26, 2016, the human remains of Christian Grayhorseman were located on the Paul First Nation. Mr. Grayhorseman’s identity was learned at the time of his autopsy, and his death had since been investigated as a homicide.
On Oct. 4, 2023, members from the Alberta RCMP Historical Homicide Unit (HHU) arrested and charged a 34-year-old resident of Edmonton, Alta., for the 2016 murder of Christian Grayhorseman.
Oskie Pehaeso Dion has been charged with:
- Manslaughter
- Indignity to a body
Dion has been remanded into custody and is set to appear on Oct. 18, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Edmonton.
HHU is a unit of specialized investigators within the RCMP which investigates historical homicides.

Stony Plain RCMP and RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate sudden death – Update #1
On Dec. 26, 2016, Stony Plain RCMP and the Edmonton RCMP Major Crimes Unit responded to a complaint of found human remains on Sundance Road on the Paul Band First Nation.
Police have identified the deceased as Christian Sidney Mark Grayhorseman of the Edmonton area.
Mr. Grayhorseman was also known as Sonny and SonShine. Police are investigating this death as a homicide. Police are interested in speaking to anyone who has information on Mr. Grayhorseman’s activities and whereabouts in the days leading up to his death.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday Dec. 29, 2016.

Stony Plain RCMP and RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate sudden death
On Dec. 26, 2016, Stony Plain RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious death on the Paul Band First Nation west of Edmonton.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., a body was located in the area of Sundance Road on the Paul Band First Nation. The Edmonton RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit has been brought in and both units have been engaged in investigating the death.
The investigation is in the early stages and the RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying any potential leads.
