The West District RCMP is asking for the public’s help in relation to an investigation into a stolen vehicle in Little Ridge, N.B.

On October 3, 2023, police received a report of a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup truck that had been stolen from a residence in Little Ridge. The vehicle was recovered burnt in a wooded area near Highway 726 and Island Hill Road, later the same day.

Police are now asking anyone who may have information related to the theft, to contact the St. George RCMP at 506-755-1130. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.

“Vehicle thefts can be a crime of opportunity,” says Sgt. Chris Henderson of the West district RCMP. “In the majority of recent vehicle thefts that we have investigated, the vehicles have been left unlocked with the keys in them, or the keys nearby in an unlocked building, which can make a vehicle a perfect target for thieves.”

Police are also encouraging individuals to take precautions to lower their risk of being targeted by vehicle thefts, including ensuring your keys are removed from your vehicle and stored in a safe place, ensuring that your vehicle is locked at all times, and parking in a well-lit area.

The investigation is ongoing.
