On September 18, 2023, officers from Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were working in the Prince Albert RCMP detachment area, as part of ongoing enforcement efforts.
At approximately 7:15 p.m., officers attempted a traffic stop on Sturgeon Lake First Nation, as investigation determined the vehicle had been reported as stolen from Christopher Lake on September 1. The vehicle did not stop.
At approximately 8 p.m., Officers located the vehicle parked outside a residence in the Lac La Ronge Indian Band community of Little Red River. They pulled a police vehicle behind it and one officer approached the vehicle. The vehicle reversed, ramming the police vehicle. The vehicle then drove forward toward the officer who was on foot, who had to jump out of the way to safety. The vehicle then fled.
Neither officer was physically injured. The police vehicle sustained heavy damage.
