Investigative Recap
August 29: At approximately 1:50 a.m., Maidstone RCMP received a report of a robbery. Investigation determined the victim was driving on Highway #16 near Bresaylor, SK. The victim approached a parked vehicle with its hazard lights on and a female flagged them down. The victim stopped their vehicle, and a male came from the ditch and pointed a firearm at them. The victim was able to escape and call police, and did not report any physical injuries to police.
Officers immediately responded. With the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services, a male and a female were arrested after a short search of the area. A small amount of methamphetamine was located during their arrest.
24-year-old Crystal Semaganis and 30-year-old Durrell Bearsears, both from Little Pine First Nation, are charged with:
- one count, robbery, Section 344, Criminal Code;
- one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of methamphetamine, Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Durrell Bearsears is also charged with one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code.
Both appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on September 1, 2023.
August 29: At approximately 4:00 p.m., Creighton RCMP received a report of a missing elderly male who had been picking berries on trails along Highway 106. Creighton RCMP officers arrived on scene when a distant yelling was heard and began searching the wooded area on foot. An unmanned aircraft was launched in efforts to assist officers and was able to successfully locate the individual – hovering above until the officers on the ground could make contact. Flin Flon RCMP officers attended with ATVs, bringing the individual back to safety at approximately 8:00 p.m. The male was evaluated by EMS on scene but was not taken to hospital. Creighton RCMP wants to thank those individuals with the Ministry of Highways and Saskatchewan Highway Patrol who assisted in ensuring the male was located and confirmed safe.
August 29 & 31: Saskatchewan RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) located and arrested two individuals who were unlawfully at large.
- CSC issued an apprehension warrant for 29-year-old Bobby Hannah for failing to abide by the conditions of his release. WEST began working to locate him. On August 29, investigation determined Hannah was in a vehicle in Saskatoon. WEST officers conducted a traffic stop on College Drive and arrested Hannah without incident. He was returned to custody. Saskatoon Police Service assisted WEST at the scene.
- CSC issued an apprehension warrant for 29-year-old Devin Wesaquate for failing to abide by the conditions of his release. WEST began working to locate him. On August 31, investigation determined Wesaquate was in a business in Saskatoon. WEST officers arrested him there without incident. He was returned to custody.
Background: The Saskatchewan RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) supports the apprehension of high-profile offenders and gang members with outstanding warrants. WEST works throughout the entire province, in partnership with municipal police services.
September 1: At approximately 1 p.m., Estevan RCMP received a report of a single vehicle rollover on Highway #18, just west of Outram, SK. Officers immediately responded. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a fuel truck, was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 60-year-old male from Montmartre, SK. His family has been notified. Estevan RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
September 2: At approximately 6 a.m., Buffalo Narrows RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Green Avenue in Buffalo Narrows, as part of an ongoing investigation. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of approximately 29 grams of crack cocaine, a sum of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia. A photo of the seized items is attached. Two occupants of the residence were arrested at the scene. Renee Aubichon, 49, and Colleen Kiezie, 42, both of Buffalo Narrows, are each charged with one count of trafficking cocaine, Section 5(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal to $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code. Both Renee Aubichon and Colleen Kiezie are scheduled to appear in court in Buffalo Narrows on October 11, 2023.
September 2: At approximately 10 a.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an individual making threats on Sweetgrass First Nation. Officers immediately responded. Initial investigation determined an adult male, who was wanted for being unlawfully at large after breaching a temporary absence permit, had threatened an adult female. The adult female did not report physical injuries to police.
Investigation determined the adult male was at a residence on Sweetgrass First Nation. Officers approached the residence. The adult male threatened the officers, told them he was armed with a firearm and refused to exit the residence. With the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, the male was later arrested without incident.
31-year-old Jesse Pooyak from Sweetgrass First Nation is charged with one count, resist peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code; one count, utter threats, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code; one count, being unlawfully at large, Section 145(1), Criminal Code. He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Count on September 5, 2023.
