As part of an ongoing investigation by RCMP East District General Investigation Section (GIS), 43-year-old Chad Ploughman of Bonavista and 36-year-old Jonathan Peters of Stock Cove were arrested this past weekend following the search of a home in Bonavista.

On Saturday, RCMP East District GIS, with assistance from Bonavista RCMP, attended a home on Sebastien Drive with a warrant to search the property authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Inside the house, a number of individuals were arrested, including Ploughman and Peters. Officers located and seized a quantity of drugs, cash and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking.

The vehicles of Ploughman and Peters were seized as part of the investigation.

Ploughman and Peters attended court via teleconference on Sunday, each charged with three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine, oxycodone and lorazepam).

The other individuals, who were present during the search, were released without charge.

Ploughman, who is currently before the court in relation to other drug-trafficking charges, was held in custody and Peters was released on a number of conditions.

The investigation is continuing.
