Wabowden RCMP & Manitoba Conservation team up for boat patrols

On July 25, 2026, between the hours of 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, Wabowden RCMP along with Manitoba Conservation conducted joint boat patrols on Setting Lake. 

While on the water, officers made contact with approximately 25 people on the lake and conducted compliance inspections of approximately 8-10 vessels.

Tickets were issued for failure to comply with size regulations of caught and retained fish, resulting in fines and restitution of $432.00. In addition, un-lawful transportation of liquor in a boat resulting in fines of $237.00 and the seizure of fish and liquor.

Two written warnings were issued for barbed hooks, while two more individuals were verbally warned for possession of barbed hooks on end of fishing line (not being used) and one verbal warning for possession of un-stamped cigarettes.

Multiple mandatory ASD breath samples were conducted ensuring boaters were in safe operation.
