St. Anthony RCMP arrested a 19-year-old man in the early hours on Thursday after responding to a call from a concerned resident from a possible impaired snowmobiler. The operator was located, and now faces charges of uttering threats and possession of a weapon.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on January 15, 2026, St. Anthony RCMP received a call from a driver who reported being followed by a snowmobiler who was threatening the occupants of their car and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The snowmobile operator was known to the group, and were able to provide a name and description to police.
Officers located the suspect — a 19-year-old man — at his residence a short time later, and he was taken into custody without incident. A search of the man at the time of his arrest resulted in the seizure of a knife.
Police also observed signs of intoxication, and provided a demand for a breath sample. The man provided a sample that was below the legal limit for impaired operation, but in violation of the conditions of his driver’s licence. As a result, his driver’s licence was suspended.
He was released with conditions, and is expected to appear in provincial court in April 2026 to respond to charges of:
- Uttering threats – four counts,
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The investigation is ongoing.
