A 35-year-old man has been charged after Bay St. George RCMP responded to a theft from a Stephenville retail store on Monday.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on January 19, 2026, officers received a report from a liquor store on Prince Rupert Drive in Stephenville. An employee of the store told police they witnessed a man taking merchandise without paying, and provided a description and surveillance photo of the suspect.

A short time later, an officer on patrol along Main Street located the man with the assistance of the photo, and arrested him without incident.

The 35-year-old man was charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 and released from custody with conditions. He is expected to appear in provincial court in March 2026.
