FBI Offers Reward of up to $10,000 for Arrest and Conviction of Individuals Involved in Fatal Brawley Shooting

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) San Diego Field Office, Imperial County Resident Agency, in coordination with our local law enforcement partners at the Brawley Police Department, is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the location, arrest, and conviction of individual(s) involved in the fatal shooting of David Mora Barraza.

Anyone with information regarding the location of individual(s) allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of Barraza is urged to contact their local FBI field office, nearest United States embassy, or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov. All information can be submitted anonymously.

On March 2, 2025, at approximately 2:18 a.m., the Brawley Police Department responded to a reported shooting near East K Street and South 17th Street that David Mora-Barraza, 21, had been shot. Barraza sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronounced deceased at Pioneers Memorial Hospital.

“The FBI is proud to assist our law enforcement partners in their search for the individuals responsible for this violent crime,” said Special Agent in Charge Mark Dargis of the FBI San Diego Field Office. “Every victim of violent crime deserves justice. FBI San Diego is committed to keeping our communities safe and will work with our local partners at Brawley PD to help locate and hold these perpetrators accountable for their actions.”

“This senseless act of violence has deeply affected our community,” said Chief Jimmy Duran of the Brawley Police Department. “We are committed to working closely with the FBI and our law enforcement partners to pursue justice for David Mora Barraza and his loved ones. We urge anyone with information to come forward—no detail is too small.”

All charges are merely accusations. Individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
