Harbour Grace — Victoria man arrested by Harbour Grace RCMP for firearms offences

Following a report of a man pointing a firearm in New Perlican on May 24, 2025, 26-year-old Devon Gillingham was arrested by Harbour Grace RCMP. He was held in police custody and will appear in court today in relation to firearms offenses, assault and uttering threats.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report that a man was threatening others with a firearm. Upon arrival, police observed the accused, Gillingham, who had been detained by local individuals in the community. Gillingham was arrested and searched. The firearm was located nearby. It was seized and found to be unloaded. Prior to police arrival, Gillingham allegedly assaulted and threatened two individuals.

Gillingham attends court today and is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Assault – two counts
  • Uttering threats – two counts

The investigation is ongoing.
