As the provincial police service, Saskatchewan RCMP has many specialized units that work alongside our dedicated frontline detachment officers.
At the same time, our frontline detachment officers work hard to help take drugs and weapons off the street.
One example of this occurred back in December in our Kamsack detachment area.
On December 10, 2024 at approximately 5:00 p.m., Kamsack RCMP officers received a report that drugs were being transported in the Kamsack area.
Kamsack RCMP responded, making patrols until they located the suspect vehicle. As a result of further investigation, officers arrested two adult males and an adult female at the scene without incident.
During subsequent investigation, officers located and seized approximately 1.2 kilograms of cocaine hidden in one of the vehicles, along with cell phones and cash.
29-year-old Tyler Young of Pelly, SK and 33-year-old Worona Gott of Swan River, MB were arrested and each charged with the following:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code
27-year-old Garth Rosin of Lloydminster, SK, was arrested and charged with the following:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Tyler Young is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Kamsack on January 28, 2025.
Garth Rosin and Worona Gott appeared in provincial court in Kamsack on January 14, 2025.
“Intercepting this volume of harmful drugs before they enter in our communities is a rewarding outcome for our officers, who work tirelessly on keeping our province safe,” says S/Sgt. Geoff Stringfellow, Detachment Commander of Kamsack RCMP. “By disrupting these criminal operations, we can keep dangerous substances off the streets.”
