On January 1, 2025 at 3:40 pm police and Emergency Medical Services responded to a residence at 7th Avenue and Main Street and located a male who had been grievously injured. Emergency responders immediately provided first aid at the scene. Regrettably, the individual passed away from his injuries. A male suspect was quickly identified and has been arrested.
Yukon Major Crime Unit and additional RCMP units continue to investigate. There are areas in downtown Whitehorse that are being held by the police for further investigation. Police would like to advise there is no further threat to the public at this time. Police request that anyone who may have information to contact the Whitehorse RCMP 867-667-5555.
