SOUTH BEND – Timothy Wyllie, 60 years old, of Granger, Indiana, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Cristal C. Brisco after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography, announced United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
Wyllie was sentenced to 121 months in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release.
According to documents in the case, in April 2023, Wyllie was released from prison after serving two terms totaling nearly 20 years for state child molestation and federal distribution of child pornography convictions. Within two months of his release from incarceration, while under federal supervised release and state parole, he began uploading numerous files of child sexual abuse material to various social media platforms and also downloaded hundreds of images of child sexual abuse material from the internet.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Hannah T Jones and Joseph P. Falvey.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In 2006, the Department of Justice created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
