Thirty-three-year-old Jason James Weir of Conception Bay South was arrested by Holyrood RCMP and is charged with a number of offences in relation to a break, enter and theft that occurred at the RBC bank in Holyrood on December 16, 2024. Weir was arrested a short time after the crime occurred, located and stopped by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary on the Trans-Canada Highway near Paddy’s Pond. He was operating a dump truck that was used in the commission of the break and enter. Weir was arrested by Holyrood RCMP at the traffic stop where officers located and recovered the stolen ATM in the dump of the dump truck.
He attends court today, charged with break and enter, mischief over $5000.00 (property damage), possession of stolen property and breaching conditions of a release order.
Three other individuals were released without charge. RCMP NL’s East District General Investigation Section is continuing the investigation with further charges possible.
