Police have charged a 42-year-old man from Shediac, N.B., following a break and enter, mischief and threats in Shediac, N.B.
On December 2, 2024, at approximately 5:13 a.m., the Shediac RCMP responded to a report of a commercial alarm at a business on Main Street, in Shediac. When members arrived at the scene, they discovered that the business had been broken into, causing significant damage to the property. An unknown suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Shortly after, police were made aware of an assault that had just occurred at a residence in Bellevue Heights, also in Shediac. Upon arrival, the suspect was identified as a 42-year-old man. He was reported to still be in the area after crashing his all-terrain-vehicle into a residential garage, causing more property damage.
With the assistance of the New Brunswick RCMP’s Police Dog Services and a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System, the man was located in a residence on Luc Street, and was subsequently arrested.
Further to the investigation, video surveillance confirmed that the 42-year-old man was also responsible for the break and enter earlier the same morning.
On December 6, 2024, 42-year-old Shawn Cormier appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with:
- Uttering threats against a person
- Uttering threats to property
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Breaking, entering and committing – Residence
- Mischief over $5000 – Damage to property
He remains in custody, and will reappear in Moncton Provincial Court on December 13, 2024, for a bail hearing.
The investigations are ongoing.
