On August 28, the ICITAP-Ukraine mission provided an update on its assistance to Ukraine’s Police Officers of the Community. ICITAP recently organized two consecutive, one-week Instructor Development Courses for a total of forty-five (45) experienced police officers of the community (POC). These officers were selected through a rigorous screening process to enhance their instructional skills at the POC Basic training in Vinnytsia and Kropyvnytskyi. The aim of these courses was to strengthen the teaching and instructional capabilities of the Police of Community (POC) officers. The first iteration occurred from July 29 to August 2, 2024, followed by the second iteration from August 5 to August 9, 2024. Both sessions were held at the ICITAP training office in Kyiv. The course focused on adult-learning principles and problem-based learning, covering essential elements of purposeful teaching, theories of learning, DISC personality assessments, motivating adult learners, ethics, and instructional techniques crucial for effective classroom management. The curriculum also included student presentations that allowed participants to demonstrate and apply their newly acquired knowledge. In Ukraine, ICITAP receives support from the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
