Bonavista — Bonavista RCMP investigates theft of multiple traffic safety cones, seeks public’s assistance

Source: Royal Canadian Mounted Police

Bonavista RCMP is investigating recent reports of safety signage being stolen from construction sites in the detachment area.

Over the past weekend, dozens of cones were stolen from a construction zone on Route 230 near Southern Bay. The cones are commonly refered to as “candlesticks” and are described as one-metre tall posts with reflective tops. A stock image of a similar cone is attached.

Such signage is vital in construction zones, as it warns motorists of work being completed and possible safety hazards.

The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information about this crime, the current location of the safety cones or those responsible for theft, is asked to contact Bonavista RCMP (709)468-7333. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers: #SayItHere 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com or use the P3Tips app.
