The Coast Guard set Port Condition FOUR, Thursday afternoon, reopening maritime ports in the U.S. Virgin Islands with the exception of Fredriskted port in St. Croix, which remains closed under Port Condition ZULU pending further assessments. Daylight restrictions for the ports in Puerto Rico have been lifted, all port facilities and navigable waterways in this jurisdiction may resume normal operations. “We appreciate all of the coordination efforts carried out between Coast Guard personnel and our port, government and industry partners in Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands that allowed for the prompt opening and the resumption of maritime commerce in both jurisdictions,” said Capt. Luis Rodriguez, commander of Sector San Juan and Captain of the Port for Puerto and the U.S. Virgin Islands. “We are still actively conducting assessments to reopen the remaining port of Fresdriksted in St. Croix, which remains closed under Port Condition ZULU until further notice.”
